I really love this series! It is fun, light, easy to read, and then men are always just so darn hot. The Caruther sisters are smart, capable, stubborn, and can kick some *ss in their Guardian roles. They are all very well balanced with 2 careers (far more than I would be) and even though they are all drop dead gorgeous, they seem to have the same insecurities all us normal gals have. Favorite things about this book: The Dragons are nasty, the leading guy is smart/sexy/vulnerable, the addition of one very cool "granddad" type, and some very naughty dragons. Also, I am hoping in future books we get more Death, he just seems like a great character to get to know.

Really if you love fun, snarky humor with kick butt leading ladies, smart handsome men, and a whole slew of otherworldly problems this is a great series to read.

3.5 stars. This was an enjoyable follow-up to The Demon King and I. Lighthearted, this featured Alex (the Caruther sister aligned to the dragons), who was trying to get to the bottom of several recent cases of human kidnappings. Of course, since this was chick lit, there was a little bit of romance mixed in. I'm not sure if the author is continuing this series, but I have to say, I enjoyed it more than her Bronwyn series.

I almost didn't bother with this second Caruthers Sisters book since I was so disappointed with The Demon King and I. But in the end I'm glad I did. Dragons Prefer Blonds was much better. Possibly simply because much of the premise was established in book one so more of the story could be dedicated to Alex and her adventures and less to describing the family's basic awesomeness.

I still felt like there was some shaky plotting going on. Bailey was said to have invented so much that I was left wondering if previous Guardian Keys fought with stone axes and pointy sticks. Despite it being stated numerous times that there were other Guardians, and even two of them showcased here, it felt like the Caruthers fought all alone. No one else ever seemed to be called to council meetings and such--things like that.

I also liked Alex. She was a bloodthirsty heroine and I could appreciate that. She did pull a couple stupid female stunts...turning around so fast she tripped over her own feet and fell into the rock hard chest of her heart throb, etc. I mean really, who does that? That stuff always annoys me. But I liked how willing to storm into battle she was and that she chose the human over the paranormal hotly. That's unusual, though it does bring the title into question.

I also thought that, while not absent, the family's social life wasn't played so heavily here. So I was more able to concentrate on the good versus evil aspect of the story. Though, it did feel unfinished in the end. Sure they killed the presumed leader of the kidnapping ring, but that seemed a drop in the pond compared to the evil at work on the whole. I guess that's what the rest of the series is for. The problem is that, while the reader is told how horrible it is, we don't see much of it.

Final say: not as bad a book one, not topping my most-loved list, but not a bomb either. It's a fun enough bit of fluff.

DNF @ 22%. Listen, I didn't expect a book with this cover to be good, but there's no excuse for it to be boring.

I like Candace Havens, and I particularly like the two Caruthers sisters books I've read. Dragons Prefer Blondes focuses on Alex, who, as one of the four Guardian Keys [and her sisters], is responsible for keeping the Dragons in line.

Alex has her hands full, between the big-time incursion of evil trying to take over the world, a Dragon king who's demanding she become his mate, and, probably most terrifying for Alex - the job of planning the wedding of the century for her rich, spoiled, indecisive BFF Aspen. Not to mention that she's suddenly admitted that she has the hots for Jake - the security guy responsible for keeping Alex and her sisters alive as they go about their business of controlling the magical beings of multiple alternate worlds . . .

And you thought YOUR life was complicated?! Ha!

These books are like chocolate-covered coffee beans - sweet, spicy, fun and decadent, along with a big caffeine kick of excitement. They are fast, easy reads and highly entertaining, since the Caruthers sisters do their world-saving work with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks and with healthy senses of humour. The characters are clever and likeable and the plots whip along fast and furious.

I recommend this series if you like smart, sexy, spunky butt-kicking heroines who jet-set around the world, run high-profile businesses, date hot guys, and, oh, yeah - save the world, doing all that in designer couture and four-inch heels - well, what more could you ask for??
