“Dead souls dream only of death. Small dreams for small men. It is life that expands to fill worlds. Life is your master, or death is."

This book was so slow-paced at first, it took me two days just to get into the storyline. But towards the end of the book, I couldn't believe I'd thought bad about it at all. I love the way the dosab trilogy has these unusual titles and you're just,, what could daughter of smoke and bone, even,,, mean?! And then you read the book and it's just
oh.
Oh. That's what it means... It's kinda amazing, how the story comes together in the end and ties up with the title? Days of Blood and Starlight is literally what it means: wars and a sand castle in starlight, angels and demons, fighing, lives lost and loved ones restored. It's a tale, legend, story, myth of all things good and bad, of hope and breaking down, of knowing love and the unknown love, of giving up and giving in. I love Zuze and Mik (and I thought I didn't love them, wouldn't love them), I hate Thiago (I thought I couldn't hate him even more) but that disgusting piece of trash, that monster ??? He tried (tw) raping her and I was so, so disgusted and MAD and I'm so GLAD he's dead, I will ALWAYS be happy he died, that disgusting good for nothing, shitty and annoying piece of crap I Am So Happy He's Gone. I almost cried of relief when Karou stabs him, I thought he'd lock her up for disobeying him,
not try to rape her!!!!!
Ugh.

Akiva, my son, my jewel. I can't believe Hazael died, I can't believe that happened. Last time, Brimstone dies, now Hazael,, I'm almost scared of reading the next book. Will Akiva and Karou even make it out alive? Also, a little part of me hopes Hazael and Brimstone will, might come back. I hope, hope, hope.
I hate Thiago.
ZIRI! That was another amazing point in the book, I love Ziri! So much, so much. I know he doesn't stand a chance against Karou/Akiva's love and whatnot, but it wouldn't be that bad if Karou ends up with him?? idk?? He's just so amazing, and that plot twist with Thiago almost gave me a heart attack, oh god? I thought Akiva would die for certain when the "White Wolf" walked in Karou's room, but thank god that disgusting shit is dead. Thank God it was Ziri. I love Ziri.

And Akiva murdered the Emperor :O
I did not see that coming, and the whole thing with Akiva reaching that siyeudhisijs was so amazing, also who is the woman with a tiara and brown hair?? Is that his mom?? Festival?? I'm so excited for the next book, I can't wait. Reading DOSAB was the best thing I've ever done, I love it so much!!

Those second book blues. I have them.
So much exposition and flashbacks and just ongoing character development.

With the uncovering of Karou's past life and how she got her Hamsas we're thrown backwards and we see more about the war between the Angels and the Chimaera. This was good. I actually enjoyed this stuff. I feel like this could have been the first book and then flashed forward rather than us trying to make us go *gasp* "she was one of them all along!". I wasn't invested enough into Karou to actually care about her until then. Then I cared.

The second book is everything building up. Everything seems to be coming to a head but it is taking forever! I want it to be here now. I feel like there's parts of this book that need trimming down or cutting out but then there are some that are glossed over and I want more of that.

Onto the last one. Hopefully this isn't building to a disappointment. I've put so much time into reading this so far!

Did Not Finish. The 4th book DNF in November 2016. :|

Read this one from 12 October to 14 October. I got to page 170.

November 2016: After a lovely poll (with one vote from a kind friend on GR) I went to read this one again. Sadly, I quickly was wondering about my reasons for putting this book on-hold the previous time. Was it truly because of me wanting to read other books? Or was it the many reasons why I am dropping now.

What reasons I hear you ask?

Here we go:
-Karou, what the hell happened to my kick-ass, epic lady of awesomeness? I know stuff went down, I know that people died, but really? She is just such a wuss in this story and I was just so pissed with her that she was letting herself be used like this. She doesn't get a shred of appreciation from anyone, but yet she just keeps going. For some reason (which I didn't think was a good reason) she thought she had to do it as some kind of saying sorry. Whut? No. Just no.
Where is my lovely girl? Why did she go back to that bastard of a Thiago? Why would anyone go back to a person like that? A person who destroyed your life in the first place.

-Romance. The best parts of the book were Akiva x Karou. But yes, because of crap happening in the previous book we now have two characters who don't see each other, but keep on pining. These two really need a good chat, and settle their differences, because really, it is just so annoying to see them drool over each other, yet not wanting to go to the other person like a grown adult.

-What the hell is up with Karou's friends? Really, why did her best friend think it was a brilliant idea to cross the desert and just go to Karou. And then taking her boyfriend with her. Wow. :| I loved the best friend in the previous book, but I just wanted to smack her hard in this one. Sorry, but she really should have thought this over. I can imagine why she wanted to go, but really, just no.

-The previous book held quite a few POV, but this one even more. It seems that almost each and every character gets a POV, and sorry, I just had to pay so much attention to who was talking that I got a headache. :| Maybe if it was done better it would have been fun, but now it just switched quite a few times in just one chapter.

There were a few other reasons, but the ones I mentioned were the most important reasons.

I got to page 280 and then I just had to stop reading. My head was exploding, and I just so missed the wonderfulness of the previous book. :(

Sorry to those who voted for me to read this one, I was really looking forward to this book. :( I really wanted to read it.

Wooow. This was an almost perfect sequel, like for real. I loved it, I swear I did, but the absence of the romance of the first book just killed me, that's why I decided not to give the last star to this one. I had to struggle a little bit at the beginning but it’s totally worth it for the rest of the book. It was just amazing how the story is developed in this sequel.
On one hand, we can feel Karou's maturity and Akiva's guilt like never before. She feels responsible for the war and for the chimeras' survival.
On the other hand, we have Suzanne and Mick trying to find Karou to help her. Those were the best and the funniest parts of the book. I couldn't help laughing out loud all the time reading their conversations and journey.
I already want to read the final book of this amazing and exciting trilogy!
