This was one of the series that had been recommended to me when I asked for recommendations in one of my Facebook groups and the first book in the series absolutely didn't disappoint. So, when I found out that the collection was on sale I didn't hesitate and got it. And of course, from then on it rotted away on my iPad, with the other 1000 unread e-books on there. However, now I'm finally on track with my review copies again it was time to pick up something from me.

And picking up this book was the perfect choice. The book picks up where the last book stopped and since it has been some time since I've read it, I needed some time to remember all the details. However, without info-dumping or over repeating, the book gave me enough information to have everything coming back quite soon. And it didn't take long before I was addicted and totally into it once more.

I have to admit that plot-wise the book seems a little slow. The last book ended with quite a bang, but for a long time no progression was made when it comes to figuring out what happened. It's quite realistic, of course. Getting information and getting things done needs time, but at times it felt like the characters were busy with other things. Well, most of all each other actually. After all, our harem was still wobbly and there was still a lot of relationship building to do.

And that was actually what we were getting in this book. And I really loved how emotional and intense this entire process was. It's always hard to write down passion, fire, longing, hurt, doubt and every other emotion in such a way that the reader feels it, but Snow really succeeded. It was almost impossible to put this book away, because emotionally and relationship wise there was so much going on and I was so rooting for Evelyn and her guys to figure everything out and to make things work!

In the last fourth of the book we however returned to the politics and the danger. And although I already started missing all the amazing interactions between Evelyn and her guys, it was nice to get some answers, some action and some new danger to look forward to in the last book of the trilogy!

Vital Found is the second book in a trilogy as this is not a standalone. The storyline continues to build and I love where Kaydence took us on this second installment of the Evelyn Maynard journey.

We left Eve, her friends, and her bonded Variants after they'd just fought a battle and one of her close friends not only died, but another was taken during it. So much has changed at Bradford Hills since that day, but so much has also stayed the same.

We join Eve and everyone else on an epic journey where she not only grows in her powers, but she also grows emotionally with each of her bonded Variants. Each one; Ethan, Josh, Tyler and Alec affect her differently which mean her interactions, her time spent with them, and her passion for each one are just a bit different.

When she initially met Tyler as a staff member, they both tried to keep their growing relationship within the confines of that tiny box. So now, unwrapping that relationship is like unwrapping a gorgeously decorated package that takes just time and appreciation before finally getting to the good stuff inside.

Ethan is your combustible, goofy jock and he's a giant teddy bear stuffed with gooey emotions. He's not intrinsically hard to figure out, but he's dangerous to touch too much so Eve has to take her time with him which is equally frustrating. The same goes for Josh, although he's quiet and contemplative. The opposite to his best friend Ethan, but just as dangerous.

Then we have Alec. He's a whirlwind of emotions, but so few see them or really know him. Known as the "Master of Pain" most people give him a wide berth, but Eve has never had trouble touching him or giving him a piece of her mind. Alec is also what I'd refer to as a steakhouse menu - he is delicious no matter what piece of meat you decide on, but he will most likely kill you when you devour him.

Vital Found is full of answers from questions that arose from book#1, but we also get more questions which will make book #3 exciting. There was more suspense, both new and old characters popped up, lots of steamy love scenes and tense emotions that kept me turning pages from cover to cover.

If you love supernatural, reverse harem, new adult, with suspenseful theme books then you'll love this trilogy.

I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would. I felt like there was less random stupidity with the characters - less of them missing a totally obvious thing right in front of their face - and the Alec situation played out better than I could have hoped it would.

I'm not going to say I like him, or even that I want him with Eve. But I will say that I believe what he said, I believe that he's trying, and most of all I am gratified that Eve didn't just roll over and let him walk all over her.

I've said this in reviews for other books that have this problem (the strong female lead hurling herself repeatedly at someone who treats her like complete garbage): it isn't that the alpha-hole thing doesn't ever work for me. It can. But it only works for me when the lead female has the self-respect to stand up to the asshole. To not pant after him and forgive everything because she's so eager to get into his pants ... to not let sex wipe the slate clean. If they work it out as equals, that can be an amazing story.

My one quibble is that Tyler treated Eve as if she was half the problem - there was one time when he yelled for them to both stop acting like children, and I wanted to punch him in the throat. That's not fair, and it is a gross mischaracterization - Eve was the victim of all his bullshit. They weren't both to blame. And Tyler putting it that way made me worry that Eve was going to roll over and apologize when she did nothing wrong.

Happily, it didn't play out like that.

So with those things from the first book (out-of-character stupidity to serve the plot, and heroine panting after douchebag) not an issue in this book, I loved it. I cried, I laughed, I was utterly riveted. Can't wait to see how the trilogy wraps up.

I am really enjoying this series. I thought this was just going to be another plot?/what plot? RH series but I have been thoroughly enjoying exploring this world. I do have to say if the guys have another *surprised Pikachu face* moment on realising that Eve HAS NO KNOWLEDGE of this world and doesn't know anything since NO ONE IS TELLING HER ANYTHING... I'm going to lose my shit. I swear, someone just needs to give this poor girl a pamphlet or SOMETHING because goddamn (
learning that your bio dad is a super villain when you meet him for the first time since your mom has been on the run from him for like 15 years... is a lot.
).
