This was not what I was expecting. I love the author so I dived in without reading the back - and I'm kind of glad I did. If I'd read that I'm not sure I'd've picked it up. I wanted light and fun - like what the story would've been if we followed Scotty instead. I got serious and angsty and drawn out. It isn't a bad book, it just isn't my taste.
sencillo, cortito y simple pero igual logra encapsular el amor y el futuro de una manera tan delicada, es hermoso. no es el mejor, pero si me pareció muy lindo todo
My issues with this book are purely based on preference, mood, and my own biases, so feel free to disregard. It was good, but I love Jennifer E. Smith books, and this wasn't my favorite.
Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between follows a teenager couple, Clare and Aidan, who are leaving for college on opposite sides of the country in 12 hours. They have one last night together where they will revisit the most significant people and places of their two year relationship and decide if they will continue to date despite the long distance or breakup.
I am not gonna lie. I was expecting this book to be a little more cutesy, but it was a lot sadder than I expected. The last 25% was cuteish, but the focus was less on the romance and more on the way Clare and Aidan change and develop as they come to terms with the fact that no matter what they choose, in 12 hours everything will be different. Having been through this exact situation when I was a teenager (and having made the wrong choice), the book hit a little too close to home for me and brought up some less than pleasant memories. If it had focused more on the cutesy romance of this particular couple instead of their internal struggle, I probably would've enjoyed it more. However, Jennifer E. Smith's writing was impeccable as always, and she really effectively developed both main and side characters that you care about and root for. She did an excellent job ensuring her readers would really feel what her characters were feeling. Overall, I would recommend it as long as you don't go into it expecting a light and fluffy romance.

It took me a long time to finish this book because I got so busy I had to take a 5 month reading hiatus apparently. Also, in my personal reading journal this book received 3.5 stars but I'm not sure if you can do that on goodreads. So I left it at a 3 because it's further from a 4 star. So those are just disclaimers.
I liked how the book was set up to progress through one night; it gave the book a pretty good flow and made it easy to read and it was very short!
The book was a little hard to get into, but I always try to get to the 100th page before DNFing it, but it got good around the 30th page, in my opinion, so that was fine.
So I liked Aidan and Clare but they weren't my favorite book couple. The whole idea of the book seemed a bit shallow. The way I feel is if two people love each other that much, they shouldn't break up no matter the distance , but then again I am bias because I was in a successful long distance relationship for 2 years before we moved in together, but I digress.
I'm wondering if the book will have a sequel because at the end I still had questions. Were they getting back together? Who were they dating at school? etc. Perhaps the author will explore Stella and Scotty's relationship in another book because even though Claidan were cute with the bowling ball at the end and "I dove you", I'm not sure their story has any more depth unless they decide to get married or something!
Overall, I liked this book but didn't LOVE it. It's a quick read if you're looking for that and you won't regret reading it. It just won't change your life.
WARNING: This book made me cry.
This review is all my opinion only after reading Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith.

Cute YA story to get lost in. Read this for the Netflix movie and there are NO SIMILARITIES. Read book or watch movie but they are NOT related. And movie was worse than book. At least the book had plot and substance.

Clare and Aidan have been dating for about two years and find themselves on the last night before they each leave for college. They have planned to spend the entire night together, and Clare has even made a list of places for them to visit. Through the night, they also plan to decide whether they will stay together (despite their colleges being on opposite coasts) or break up. Clare's list gets abandoned as their night together takes twists and turns they didn't see coming, but their decision is still looming.
I love that the book is written as their twelve hours together, it's a great addition to the entire story line. Overall, this is a sweet story of young love and the heart-wrenching decision that most high school couples have to face. I wanted to jump in and help them with what to do, but their conversations and reasoning were great in helping them with the decision. As I finished the epilogue, I took a big exhale, loving the ending.
