This is a fine book but I'm the wrong reader for it.
Jennifer Smith's teen romance novels are everything sweet and sappy that I want in a teen romance. Happy, sweet, familiar and these feel like people I would have been friends with in high school.
I fell in love with Jennifer E. Smith's book after I read "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" followed by her other books "This is What Happy Looks Like" and "The Geography of You and Me" I loved all three of them. So obviously nothing was stopping me from picking up her latest book. But after reading it, it was a little hit and miss for me. I guess after reading the previous 3 books and loving them, I assumed I would love this one just as much as the others. My personal favorite is "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" though.

"Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between" didn't quite meet my expectations. I loved the idea of two young lovers going away to college and needing to decide where their future together was headed, but it fell short. The book is about Aidan and Clare spending their last 12 hours in their home town together. They spending it going to places that Clare thinks is important to their relationship. Ultimately leading up to the big finish of their relationship.
Her style of writing is very consistent throughout each of the books, so I don't have much to say there. But I guess where it fell short is the feels. In the other books I had feels from start to finish, but this particular book I only had it towards the end. And yes I did cry... But that's besides the point. I think what may have been different for me is that in the previous books the main characters fall in love, and we get to see that. But this book the main characters are already in a relationship and we are seeing the end of it. I do love the realism of the final goodbye (yes, that's where I cried). But the rest of the book, just lacked the emotion I'm used to.
I did find the book to be enjoyable, and do recommend it. But if you're expecting it to be as great as the other books, well don't get your hopes up just yet. Don't get me wrong. I do like it, but compared to her other books, this one definitely fell short.

YA chick lit- a bit melodramatic, even for YA-but entertaining.

With each book I read by this author I fall more and more in love with her writing. I like how she describes some situations and feelings. This book felt more personal than the other two I've read by her because I'm going to be in the exactly same situation as Clare and Aidan less then a year from now. But I think it will end up differently from their story. Still, I can't bear being so far away from the person I love. I get where Clare comes from. I have the same insecurities like her but I'm not strong enough to end it all. Who knows? Maybe we'll break up before I have to go? Anyway this story was beautiful and I love how it gives the readers a sense of hope in the last chapter. And I would like to read Stella and Scoty's story. I think these two are really cute together and I hope they stayed together a lot longer than this book lasted.
Nothing special. There wasn't really any tension. Thin plot holding together a series of vignettes.
