firmly on the violent sexual side of horror, not the creepy side of horror. It was effective but not something I was necessarily in the mood for.

"Demonwood" gave me anxiety. It touches on a kind of nightmarish, existential horror that I just don't experience often. His other book, House, gave me that feeling too.
"Cockbone" is an example of body horror that rivals films such as The Thing, Society, and The Re-Animator in it's depictions of graphic bodily harm.
The other stories, like his take on Batman and "Night of the Jibblers" are strong, but I think these two stand above the rest.

If you are a fan of things that make you squirm or feel sad or give you existential angst, this is the book for you.

This was certainly one of the least enjoyed reads I've ever had.. Like, I have enjoyed some horror in the past, especially the works of ito, but this was just, annoying? I'm not sure the proper way to explain how these made me feel. Like, disgusted and frustrated at myself for bothering to finish.
But I also recognize that this is personal preference and I can't say that there was anything structurally wrong with what he did.

Josh is a guy who doesn't just not push intrusive thoughts away, but dwells with them. Finds a story around them. Twists every detail to be worse. He takes topics that we have become desensitized to and by adding the cartoonish and the absurd, makes them viscerally horrific again.

Alot of surreal, brutal, violent short horror stories, which I don't entirely understand most of the time. It mostly feels like violence and depravity for the sake of it. However, there are a few moments that despite or perhaps because of all the gore really spooked me due to their utter lack of the same.

This writer/artist is extremely talented, but be warned that he is not for the faint-hearted. This is some dark and disturbing horror stuff, but exquisitely, lovingly crafted.

The most disturbing thing I've ever read. Horror on a whole new level. The tales in this collection will give anyone nightmares and, at the very least, a scarred psyche. Be warned.

Stomach turner, hit me in places too few stories can. It's good, because it doesn't feel senseless, but perfectly unsettling. I think the first story is this collection's true darling, but there's some good in here.

I have no idea what I just read otherwise. Some of it is frankly confusing, or maybe I just don't read comics well.

Well, anyways. The baby rapist story (yeah, you read it right), it hits me how the guy refused to fight all the way to the last panel. It's not gratuitous, all the violence is implied, off-screen, and not depicted. And Bonecock. It's a totally insane situation and he doesn't leave it. He tells himself he's getting pleasure when he's used, yet he tries to dismember himself/escape. And the first story, beginning innocently, but is entirely over the top takes a dark turn. It feels like the most clever, the easiest to "read."

So many of these stories end abruptly.

Also, warning, there's so much dick.

Because dicks are horrific.

Anyways, I'll have to think on this stuff later because Sherlock is on and Boyfriend is getting antsy.
