Ganz gut! Es war überraschend und spannend bis das Ende.

Cat Delaney, a star of a TV series, received a donor heart. With her second chance at life, Cat decides to make a career switch and swap Hollywood for San Antonio to host a small broadcast on the local TV station WWSA for children who need to be adopted. Here she meets Alex Pierce, an ex-cop and famous crime writer. A series of fatal 'accidents' happen to other heart recipients and Cat realises that she might be in danger too. Alex wants to pretect her and their relationship is slowly progressing towards a romantic one.

This one was good. Melina (or whatever her name was) was really annoying, the whole subplot with her doctor was irritating, the killer's reason for killing was interesting but past that it was just another run of the mill SB novel.

Novel TW: domestic/sexual violence

This murder mystery romance weaves together the fates of four separate heart transplantees by following the life of Cat Delaney, a soap opera actress who was a recipient of a heart that was transplanted.

Cat, after both literally and figuratively having a change of heart, moves from Malibu, CA to San Antonio, TX to begin living the second chapter of her life. She gives up a career in Hollywood to found a program titled Cat's Kids, hoping to find foster children their permanent homes. Shortly after this move she begins a romance with crime novelist Alex Pierce, starts receiving terrifying letters in the mail from a certified stalker, and must contend with the ups and downs of a new workplace at the same time.

Charade was an enjoyable read, but was also entirely predictable at parts. With that being said, there were specific instances in the plot that I just didn't see happening. I like a novel that can keep me on my toes!

I recommend for any introductory murder mystery readers as the romance between Cat and Alex also takes up a big portion of the story. There is a lot of mature, steamy content in Charade so I would recommend for a more mature audience!

Soap opera star Cat Delaney receives a new heart, getting a new life while on the same day several others lost theirs. She's never wanted to know anything about her donor, content to move forward with her life unencumbered. Cat leaves her show and moves to St. Antonio, Texas to explore her new passion, finding permanent homes for kids in foster care. All goes well until she learns that other heart recipients who received their transplants on the same day are mysteriously dying from accidents. Around the same time, she meets crime fiction writer Alex Pearce and embarks on a relationship of sorts. Together they work to uncover who may be targeting Cat and why as the anniversary date of her transplant nears.

I enjoyed the story and the characters, even though I figured out the killer fairly early, red herrings and all. The multiple storylines running parallel with Cat's made this even more enjoyable as the case became more complex. The relationship between Alex and Cat was high octane, including their almost constant tension, made palatable because of her penchant for honesty and his for secrets.

It's a suspenseful story that kept my interest to the end. This is one of the better books by the author.

I received this book through Goodreads first reads. So glad I did. This book was impossible to put down. It keeps you guessing right to the end. I've never read a Sandra Brown book I didn't enjoy, but this is probably one of my favorites.
