Charade by Sandra Brown

Novel TW: domestic/sexual violence

This murder mystery romance weaves together the fates of four separate heart transplantees by following the life of Cat Delaney, a soap opera actress who was a recipient of a heart that was transplanted.

Cat, after both literally and figuratively having a change of heart, moves from Malibu, CA to San Antonio, TX to begin living the second chapter of her life. She gives up a career in Hollywood to found a program titled Cat's Kids, hoping to find foster children their permanent homes. Shortly after this move she begins a romance with crime novelist Alex Pierce, starts receiving terrifying letters in the mail from a certified stalker, and must contend with the ups and downs of a new workplace at the same time.

Charade was an enjoyable read, but was also entirely predictable at parts. With that being said, there were specific instances in the plot that I just didn't see happening. I like a novel that can keep me on my toes!

I recommend for any introductory murder mystery readers as the romance between Cat and Alex also takes up a big portion of the story. There is a lot of mature, steamy content in Charade so I would recommend for a more mature audience!
