Perfect crime by Helen Fields is the 5th book in the DI Callanach series, the first that i've read. Its your average police procedural with a love story twist. I was really sucked in by the first chapter, then found the book kind of dull until it picked up for me about half way through. I would give the book 3.5🌟
It begins with Stephen Berry attempting to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge, with the help of a suicide counselor he is convinced to come down. Within a week Berry is found dead at the bottom of Tantallon Castle although it looks like suicide Luc Callanach and Ava Turner are brought in to investigate if he was pushed or jumped. Before they are able to wrap up the investigation more bodies begin to turn up which look like suicides also, or are they just staged and there is a serial killer on the loose?

Becky Gerard, mother of Meghan who is a 15, wants the best for her daughter, what mother wouldn't?
Becky is on a plane to go see her mother, Cora, who is dying of cancer when she gets a startling phone call from her husband, Carl, that their daughter is in the hospital again and they don't know what's wrong.
Becky makes a scene and is escorted off the plane to rush to her daughter's side. Doctor after doctor the question remains why is Meghan always sick? Finally they think they have found a doctor who may have the answer, a diagnosis of mitochondrial disease. Becky is all for getting the tests done to figure out if that is the case except it includes more needles and Meghan has developed a phobia to needless. However another doctor steps in and believes that Beckyis the issue and has munchausen syndrome by proxy. This is where things get ugly and twisted. Meghan is taken from her parents and kept in a psych ward. While her mother does everything in her power to try to ave Meghan her father continues to disengage.
This was definately an amazing family drama with a psychological thriller twists. Amazingly written, captivating novel that i read in a day. I would give it 4.5 🌟

Sally Hepworth has done it again with another outstanding read! I recently read the family next door, which i loved, then I got approved to review the Mother In Law and let me tell you it does not dissappoint. I devoured it and it definitely gets a 5🌟 from me.
The mother-in-law is told from two prospectives, Diana the mother in law and Lucy the daughter in law. Its also told in the past and present. I adore books like this. This one did not dissappoint although if you agree looking for your unusual suspense type thriller this book may not be for you. I found it more of a family drama. But loved it non the less.
There is a dead body that looks like an apparent suicide but under more investigation it looks like a murder. They then delve into discovering who did it. In the process of finding out the killer you unearth many family dramas that have occured over the years.
The Mother-in-law was amazingly written with great story, mystery and character development and if you enjoyed her other books i highly anticipate you will enjoy this one too. In my opinion a must read this year.

Things my son needs to know about the world by Fredrik Backman has a publication date of April 30th 2019
Things my son needs to know about the world is a super fun creative book. Fredrick talks about issues and life experiences he thinks his son needs to learn and understand in order to grow up in the world we live in today. I thought it was clever and cute and very humorous. I found myself, as a mother being able to relate to the topics he choose to include. It was a super quick read that i suggest any parent wanting some humor about parenting should read. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I just loved this book, mystery suspense a mother doing everything to not give up on finding her daughter.
They say a mother always knows best and since the day that Kate's daughter, Sophie, ran away Kate had always thought it didn't quite seem right. The police said she left a note so the case wasn't really investigated as anything other then a runaway teen. Then strange things started happening, a post card here and there would turn up telling Sophies parents she was ok and not ready to come home yet. The letters seemed a little off to Kate but she couldn't quite place how. Then one night when she was working at the Message in a bottle helpline a call came in saying this would be the last you hear from me but i'm ok. Kate knows it was sophie the way a mother would, but the police don't believe her they think she's making it up. Then sophies old notebook show ups and nothing quite adds up. Kate knows something is different but can she figure it out to find her daughter?
This book sure took me on a wild ride i didn't want to believe that kate didn't have it all together but everyone seemed to think she needed help. Then when I finally thought i knew what happened it turned out to be someone else. This was a great book that I just devoured I didn't want to put it down once i started. I definitely would give 4.5 🌟 to and suggest if you like a good thriller to give it a read.

"We are drawn to the familiar, even if it hurts us." Is one of my favorite quotes from the book.
I really enjoyed this one i got sucked right into the story and it keep me wanting to read on to find out what happened to Laura. I enjoyed the time lines of the chapters and the segments from the sessions with the therapist.
What lengths would you go to to save a childhood friend?
Laura and Rosie are sisters who were close and spent their childhood with joe and Gabe. One night at a party something went wrong and it's been haunting Laura's life since. Rosie ended up marrying Joe and they recently let Laura move Into their house after a horrible break up. Laura goes on a dating website to try and move on with her life. She finds a suitable male and ends up going on a date. However she hasn't return by the next morning and everyone is in a panic to find her and make sure nothing horrible happened like that night in their childhood. Will they find Laura? Will more lives be ruined? Will they all remain friends in the end?
This is one fast paced thriller that I definitely enjoyed and would give 4🌟

The Unhoneymooners was the first book of Christina Lauren that I've read and wow i will definitely be getting more. You'll want to make a note that this book becomes available this week on May 14th.
Ami the bride has always been the lucky twin. Winning most everything for her wedding including the honeymoon. Ami's wedding is going great until the speeches. Her twin Olive is giving her speech when the new groom vomits all over Ami's dress. Unfortunately then almost all the guest except Olive and the grooms brother Ethan are vomiting due to ciguatera, which happens when one eats fish contaminated with certain toxins. Ami then insists that Olive go on the honeymoon she won that was nonrefundable. However the groom also offered it to his brother Ethan. Olive and Ethan aren't excately friends and not thrilled to be taking the trip together. They end up going and having an amazing trip. The trouble doesn't start until they return home.
This was such a fun refreshing read. I found myself not wanting to put it down to see what awkward situation Olive and Ethan would get into next as they were pretending to be on their honeymoon. I loved the way their relationship evolved. The amazing connection they developed was so relateable. Christina Lauren definitely knows how to write an engaging book and i would definitely say its a 4.5🌟

Tell No One by Barbara Taylor Sissel was a bit of a slow burn for me. It did turn out to be an interesting premise to a story that i ended up enjoying.
Tell No One is told from two points of view. Caroline a daughter to Hoff who is trying to figure out what happened to him before her aunt, Hoffs sister dies of cancer. On her journey of trying to find her father she ends up learning things about her father she hadn't known by talking to people who knew her dad. Harris is Hoffs stepson who the only father figure he ever had was Hoff. Harris is now a father of two sons and is struggling with the loss of Hoff and football with a drug addiction. That has led his morals astray.
The two stories although i knew they were step siblings were so different i wasn't sure how they were going to connect. When they did it was definitely a shocker and i was glad that i continued reading.
