i swear these books just keep getting better. i know so much of the lore but the writing is so good that it still shocks me when i read it. it feels like this was around the time that george r really got his writing style together with this series in particular. just like the other asoiaf books, it was gripping, heartbreaking, suspenseful, and full of care and attention to detail. in the middle of reading it i got sad that i’m going to finish this series one day. possibly my favorite book in the series thus far.

This book was amazing, as per usual for this series. I couldn't put it down. I would pretty much spend my days waiting until I could find some time to read again. There were a few new characters, a few characters that I previously liked that now I don't and a few that I previously didn't like that now I do. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected things happened. Love it. I can't wait to read the next one.

Wow. I loved this book. Just loved it. Martin takes the turns that I don't expect and the lesson that we learn in book 1 - anyone can be killed at any time - is only reenforced.

My favorite of the series so far.
