i swear these books just keep getting better. i know so much of the lore but the writing is so good that it still shocks me when i read it. it feels like this was around the time that george r really got his writing style together with this series in particular. just like the other asoiaf books, it was gripping, heartbreaking, suspenseful, and full of care and attention to detail. in the middle of reading it i got sad that i’m going to finish this series one day. possibly my favorite book in the series thus far.
