Pretty good intro to the upcoming spin-off series. [b:Lion's Share|23507277|Lion's Share (Wildcats, #1)|Rachel Vincent|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-4845f44723bc5d3a9ac322f99b110b1d.png|43111411] comes out, I believe, at the end of February. Hunt seems like it gives a little background info but probably not essential in order to enjoy the series. Jace and Abby seem really promising however!

I was really excited to learn that Rachel Vincent was returning to the shifter universe. This story teller me back into the world and I was so happy for it. I am excited to read her Wildcats series and see where Abby and Jace go from here.

Abby thought it would be a chance to stretch her legs in her shifted form but when she takes off for a hike only to hear her friends being attacked she knows it’s not going to be what she expected. Returning to camp in her panther form Abby is surprised to see her friends being gutted open by a guy she knows from school. Abby has to act fast if she plans on saving any of them heading into battle in her panther form. While the fight stirs up only memories hopfully her training with Faythe will keep her alive.

I love the Shifters series it’s one of my all-time favorite shapshifter series because it’s not wolves. I knew I had to read Hunt because it’s more of the world I love plus the end of the novella has a teaser for her new series. While the novella is a quick story it’s action packed I completed it within a few short minutes before heading to bed for the night. While the story is short it gives us to see how Abby has grown since we last saw her and gives us just enough to be super excited for the new series and I can’t wait to read the new book. I’ve not read any of Rachel Vincent’s other books yet but I do hope to in the near future.

I was really excited for this novella which starts the new spin-off series Wildcats. I do think this story adds something to the main story and it relevant it wasn't as good as I expected. Something happened that threw me off a bit and I couldn't figure out why this was happening it didn't make sense for the characters to do that, only towards the end of the story you find out their motivation and then it finally made sense. It just bothered me up till that point and it prevented me from enjoying it as much. It did surprise me when the truth came out and I realized what was going on and what these people had done, it was disgusting, but it did explain their behaviour.

It's not a fun story, it's pretty harsh and dark and while that's part of this series I didn't expect the short story to only focus on this. Towards the end some things happen that I assume will impact the events of Lion's Share, so I think it's handy to read this short story.

The short story is pretty short and I couldn't get a good feel for Abby, but she seems like a nice main character. She still deals with ghosts from her past, but you do notice she has grown and she makes a decision in this story that might not be the wisest, but I did like she decided to do this even though she was scared. There are also some hints dropped about Faythe training Abby, so it was fun to hear about Faythe already and see how she had helped Abby. I also liked when Jace made an appearance towards the end and it's already clear that Abby likes him.

There's not much world building in this book, so I think it's necessary to read the Shifters series first if you want to know more about the world. I wouldn't recommend reading it out of order, although I guess it is possible if you really want to, but you miss a piece of background as it doesn't et explained in detail here.

To conclude: this was a short story that set up the stage for the first book Lion's Share. The events in this book confused me a bit until the end when things did make sense. I am curious to see how these events impact the story in Lion's Share though and it was a nice set up, it was a bit darker then I expected.

Short story that bridges the Shifters series with the Wildcats series by Rachel Vincent.

i first read Hunt when it was released in the Chick's Kick Butt anthology. Since then, Rachel has made a few changes to incorporate the start of a spinoff series and I'm so happy she did! I love Abby and I LOVE Jace and have wanted his book ever since. I can't wait to read Lion's Share!!!

Abby Wade is on a camping trip with her friends, when some hunters attack her friends and kidnap her roommate.

This was short, but action packed nonetheless. I liked seeing Abby after meeting her in Stray. She’s grown a lot through the years, and she’s willing to do anything to protect her friend.

Enjoyable short story about Abby (Faythe's cousin) which makes me keen to read her full length story - especially as it has Jace in it.
