Lynxsabder "Lynx" Dackelov has been sold into slavery to a bunch of women. What you would think at first would be any guy's dream come true has turned into a nightmare for Lynx. He was starved, abused, laughed at, and worse of all...used till he couldn't get it up anymore. Lynx's only reprieve was when he was later sold to men but Lynx could never get the sound of women laughing out of his head. Because of his experiences with women. Lynx no longer wants anything to do with them.

Bonnie Neurath lives on Terra Minor, where she runs a farm. Bonnie never pictures herself managing a farm. Everything would have been just fine if the man Bonnie was with hadn't run off and left her pregnant and alone. That is ok because Bonnie is through with men for good. As much as Bonnie don't want to admit it though she could really use an extra pair of hands with all the chores.

Lynx had it all planned out that when he arrived on Terra Minor that he would get a job working at the mines but plans change. When Lynx arrives, he is informed that there are currently no openings at the mines but there is an opening as a farm hand. It is either that or be shipped back to where he came from. Will Bonnie and Lynx be able to help each other mend their broken hearts?

Outcast is the fourth book in The Cat Star Chronicles. I have to tell you that with each book, this series as well as Ms. Brooks just keep getting better and better. I got to warn you that if you are allergic to hot men and lots of steamy sex then you could stray away but if you love this type of combination then have got to run out to the nearest bookstore and pick yourself up a copy of Outcast today! Cheryl Brooks will have you meowing for more. I hope this series never ends.

3.5 overall, but a range from 2.5 - 4.0 if looking at only individual parts of the book.

This was a freebie on the Kindle, and though it was book #4 in the series you didn't need to read the others as long as you took the secondary characters for what they were. When I read the Prologue and you immediately jump into the sex-slave action I thought "Oh boy, here is a book that is all sex and no story". Not that I am opposed to sex in my romance novels -- not at all -- but just like any book I want to have a good plot and characters I care about. The plot was okay but I really enjoyed Bonnie and Lynx.

I thought their character development was great; though you can't really relate to Lynx's backstory (at least I hope not!) I think we can all relate to having severe emotional scarring from bad relationships in the past. I like how the characters were both emotionally damaged and had to work at coming together; how it took time for them to overcome the obstacles, even if I thought Bonnie fell in love too fast -- but apparently that is how it is with the men on the planet that Lynx is from.

What I didn't like was the dialogue. Some was okay, but other sections it felt jarring and out of sync with the flow of the story. I also agree with another reviewer that commented on the sex scenes involving people other than Bonnie and Lynx. This was their story and the other characters should have been secondary.

This was a fun diversion. Lynx was a slave for 20 years (10 in a harem) and hates women. Bonnie is pregnant and her boyfriend has deserted her and she hates men, but needs help on her farm. Along comes Lynx, interest ensues. His species, the Zethians are renowned lovers, etc. Steamy pretty fun. I'd read another one.

Better than the first book in the series (and I haven't read 2 or 3 so I cannot speak to them), Outcast is the fourth entry in the Cat Star Chronicles.
There were some things I quite liked about the book - the setup was good. I liked the two main characters, Bonnie and Lynx, in their first chapters. I liked that there was tension between them.

I did not like that Bonnie went from seemingly capable independent woman to very needy the moment Lynx showed up. I understood she was lonely and wanted someone to talk to, but I'd have preferred her to be more aloof and to have circumstances continually put her and Lynx in close proximity and needing to communicate.

There's some language around the cat folk in these books that commodifies them in a really uncomfortable way.

I loved this one the best so far. I absolutely adored Lynx and felt so sad for him. I also connected with Bonnie really well. I liked the previous 3 books and their characters, but I really got into these two.

These are good erotica. They are not great, but they are good and entertaining. This one is NOT a standalone at all. They may not classify this first as erotica but they definitely have more sex and more descriptive sex than the Laurann Dohner New Species series, so most are going to put this as erotica. I classify it Erotic Scifi.

In the other books, we might see some of the old characters at the end, but in this one, we get right back into their lives and sex. I almost think that this was to put some extra sex scenes in there. OK, it did work with the story (except the sex scenes) but it made this contingent on the books in front of it. This is the first that this is the case.

So my biggest complain was that I was a bit bored with the old characters sex scenes. The daily life was interesting and one scene I though pretty fun but mostly they were tiring. Maybe Brooks did this because the main characters are very slow to go in that direction and don't hook up until the second half of the book. In the preceding books, the sex starts rather fast so maybe she wanted to appease her audience. I would've enjoyed the story more if she just skipped Cat & Jack's sex, it dragged. Also she repeats herself in this one a lot, talking about emotions and questioning the others reasons and actions, reading through that was tiring at the end (that is where it repeats). Still after reading through the boring parts, you get a pretty good story and still pretty good sex, although that is becoming a little repetitive from book to book.

Liked how this one was "darker" than others in the series. I also liked how we got to revisit previous couples.

This series is by no means to be taken seriously. It's just a bunch of fluff, but as so it's perfect to read while being lazy on a rainy day when you just want something fun and entertaining.
