wish Sora had more than one book

I enjoyed the story and getting to see what happens with a new ascendant. It is also interesting seeing the different side to the humans who feel powerless. but at times parts of their journey felt a little rushed. Maybe if like in the previous books we'd seen all of their points of view throughout the story it wouldn't have felt that way.

I was so happy we got to see Sora grow up and her journey with her mates. I did feel like i couldn't really get to know them since it was only one book but i loved it nonetheless.

A perfect wrap up to the series!

This book was so rushed. I get that the author just wanted to end the series on a good final note but there was just so little time for the characters to form deep relationships that the interactions and the “i love you” all just felt so fake. It was a nice story but it could have been so much better if it was multiple books.

I wasn't sure about this and I somehow missed it saying 5 mates and not 4 so I was surprised aboit that.

However I got into this book very quickly and really did enjoy it. Its a nice neat wrap up a series book and I loved that. It answered questions and I think was a good way to finish a series off.

I understand why people asked for this book. I wanted a little more, to be honest. And yet... it wasn't needed. The politics of it really annoyed me. The pacing of the romances were rushed - we only really got development from the last two. After having the first four books being strangers to lovers, having so many friends to lovers plots was just... yeah. I didn't enjoy it as much.

Not that I'm anti-fast burn, but the first four books took one book per relationship, and this one just mushed them all into one. The last two to join together were much more developed.

Also, it's a reverse harem, and there was only one smut scene that had everyone together, so I kind of wanted more.

That stated, the twist ending sort of saved it for me. Also the uhhh relationship between the last two. Yes. YES. I think if I read this series again, I would skip reading number 5. All of the politicking just wasn't for me.

That stated, I'm going to go read more from this author probably right now today. So yeah. 4/5 but like I'm not mad about it I'm just not a big fan of friends to lovers.

Actually 2.5 stars

The fifth book in the Her Elemental Dragons series is a sequel to the first four. Sora, daughter of current Silver Dragon Kira, has come of age and is now the Ascendant, ready to find out who her four fated mates will be, so she can start her new life as the head peacekeeping dragon. However, the Death Goddess is demanding that Sora take her champion as a fifth mate or she will go to war against the other gods. In addition, a new group called the Unseen believes that humans are being repressed, and is stealing magic from Elementals (and killing them) to get the power they need to take over.

So, I like most of the characters, and Sora has chemistry with her mates. However, the Unseen story line just didn't make sense to me. The people were ruled over by brutal dragon overlords for centuries, but after twenty years of each Kingdom ruling itself and the dragons just keeping peace between them, now a group of humans wants to kill beings for their magic power and destroy the dragons forever? Where were they when the previous dragons burned down entire villages for no reason? The whole plot just didn't work for me.

On some aspects, the best book of the series. The idea of the book perfectly follows the rest of the series, the characters are alright. But the action scenes were terrible. They went far too quickly. (For context, I'm pretty sure one sex scene is as long as the climax - pun intended).

Love this world and the adventures. The story picks up with a younger generation with new characters. This is clearly the weakest of all the books in the series- even to the point that I don't think it was needed because it went against what the previous books created. The book is very plot driven with little character development.
