Well, it's official already - I am in love with the entire Preston family and their associates. Now I must read on so that I can read more about this glorious family and find out what happens with the other boys.

This was a really well-written book, and had sufficient mush and steam to keep me happy. Part of me (probably the 'bitch' part) thought that maybe the book had a little TOO much
Spoilerof a neatly tied up happy ending for my particular taste, with absolutely everything you could imagine working out just fine
. But I know that's how many readers like it, and it's not like Laney and Luke didn't
Spoilerdeserve all that happiness
.

So yeah, the story had its hard-to-read moments, but it was heart-wrenching, heart-warming, and amusing as heck in all the right places.

I'm officially a fan! I think I'd give it about 4.5 stars if we could give half stars.

ETA: I had thought this was my first Jay McLean read, but I was wrong. I forgot I’d read More Than This a few months back and felt underwhelmed by it. Well, I can say for sure that if you weren’t sold on that one either, you should still give this spin-off series a chance.

A solid 3.5 stars book.

The Prestons are the kind of family you will want in your life. They're an amazing bunch, but this book isn't actually sunshine and rainbows. Nope. While reading this I bawled my eyes out several times.

It really wasn't what I expected after reading the snippet on Amazon or the blurb here on goodreads, for some people it should be mentioned that abuse is a topic as well.

Getting used to the ever shifting perspective took a chapter or three, but then it was alright. It's obvious where the story goes, best friends eventually turning lovers, but it's not that easy for Lois and Lucas. With these two, you're in for quite a ride. At some point it annoyed the heck out of me that they just wouldn't talk to each other properly, openly, honestly, as it would've made everything so. much. easier. But oh well. We wouldn't be here right now if things were always that easy.

Oh my heart. This story will take you on such an emotional roller coaster ride, but it's worth every minute.

From the first page I was drawn in and just couldn't put the book down.

I highly recommend this book to everyone looking for a touching story that will stay with you well after the last page is turned.

A must read!!

This was a fantastic read. I loved the More Than series. I am happy to see more of who Lucy’s younger brothers are like. I am happy to finally read Lucas. He is the eldest boy in the Preston family. I thought his character had the bad boy quality, but he was also very protective. Also, Laney was a great character. I love story about friends turning into lovers. This book made me laugh, cry and made me appreciate love even more. I recommend reading Jay McLean books because her writing style is engaging and beautiful. I am happy to say that I am a fan. I can’t wait to read Logan’s story next. Overall, an amazing read.

Lucas is a dick but I love him anyway. I totally understand the reasons why. Teenage boys are less-than-perfect beings.

What happens in this book is realistic--it's part of our reality, a really shitty part. The ups, the downs, the happys, the sads: through it all there is love. With love and family you can't fail. Ever.

And Lachlan? Funniest kid EVER! As I was reading, I kept wondering if Jay's kids are anything like him.

For a very brief few moments, I got to see my Logan--you know, the asshole Logan Matthews who we all love. *swoon*

Jay's books take you places you wouldn't expect to go and you never know exactly how you're going to get there or if your heart will still be in one piece when you reach the end. Those are the best kind of feels.

I couldn't finish this book. I gave up at 70%. I didn't like Lois and I hated the story...

Update 08/11/2016

I feel like I need to explain why I hated this book, and the reason is pretty simple: Lucas and Lois didn't act like they were best friends. (except for the first 15% or so)
Lois didn't (or even don't ) trust Lucas. She didn't give him the benefit of the doubt, she didn't ASK... that's not what best friends do or act. All the mistakes she made were mistakes I wouldn't mind if they didn't know each other for like 6 years already. Their friendship was supposed to be a build-up for the relationship... It wasn't.

Jay McLean delivers again. She always knows how to write so you fall in love with characters instantly and the events will make your heart ache even when you seem to be a tough nut to crack. It didn't feel until the end of the book that it was about teenagers anymore, but that is what you get when kids live through several traumas and challenging life. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic book and I could not make myself put it down for days I read it even tho I do have to work.
