I enjoyed this trilogy. Being an easy and fast read with lots of cliff hangers, it's a great series to start Tweens on dystopia fiction that aren't quite mature enough to handle books and series like "The Hunger Games."

Well, this series kept me hooked until the very end. I tried describing the series to my boyfriend today, and I got really excited, but he had no idea what I was trying to explain. He kept asking "so it's like Alice in Wonderland" or "The Wizard of Oz." No, but kind of? It's one of the books that you just have to read for yourself. A great book for children fourth grade and up (on the Kati scale), filled with anticipation, excitement, revenge, love, and family....and also genocide between two races and the Earth dying.

5 ⭐ Read super fast! The illustrations are adorable and very impressive coming from an author. I loved this story but I'm still very upset about the fact that they
Spoilernever ended up doing anything about Eva Eight!!!!

“So, Caruncle, this stuff that you scavenge—”
“Steal,” Hailey corrected her.
“Discover,” Caruncle corrected him.
“This stuff that you discover . . . what do you do with it?”

I wish the book was longer, as the story was fantastic but felt rushed, particularly towards the end. I also wished we got to learn more about Cadmus Pryde’s past as it seems very interesting, but we never got to explore that which is a shame

I still love the idea of a serious, thought provoking YA book with illustrations. They are beautiful and really enhance the story, without making it seem like a kids picture books.
Eva has really come into her own here. I wanted to call this a dystopian future book, but there is so much hope here (and wisdom in diversity, that seems wrong).
(Note, not a stand alone book, do start at #1)
