While I usually love a book about a robot and a robot boyfriend sounds right up my alley, I was a little disappointed with this read. I think it was an enjoyable read, but while taking place it the modern day, it came off like a rom-com that might have existed in the 90’s. The way the main character’s family treated her like they had never really met her before and that the expectations were so dated that it just didn’t feel modern. The way technology like Facebook was mentioned a lot as well will really keep this book from becoming a timeless classic. I don’t think I’d reread, but it was a fine enough time.

Thank you to Putnam, Penguin Random House and Goodreads Giveaways for a chance to read this ARC.

It was a cute rom-com book... just requires the reader to believe a brilliant robotics engineer could ever possibly fall in love with the robot she created. It had lots of funny lines and relatable moments for a 30 something single woman.

If you want a fully romance book, do not read this!!

As much as I loved this book the main focus want romance and honestly I’m happy isn’t. Overall really enjoyed this book.

I don’t think this book deserves such a low average rating. Maybe others expected it to be more of a romance? Some reviewers didn’t like that Kelly was selfish and controlling? I think that was kind of the point…this book is about her journey of personal growth. Based on other reviews I read, I’m wondering if this book went over some people’s heads…and some reviewers on this book simply do not pass the vibe check. I thought that it might be more romance-focused going into it but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was much more about the MC’s growth as a human being. She learned that it’s maybe not so great to have a robot boyfriend programmed to be perfect, and she eventually learned to let go of being such a control freak. Character development was done very well, and the supporting characters were fleshed out and interesting, if not irritating (looking at you, Kelly’s mother!). I hope Sarah Archer decides to write another novel and doesn’t let all the negative reviews hold her back.

This was a pretty cute rom-com that I liked the idea of but the story didnt quite get there for me. I liked the story but it's not something that I would read again.
