I don’t think this book deserves such a low average rating. Maybe others expected it to be more of a romance? Some reviewers didn’t like that Kelly was selfish and controlling? I think that was kind of the point…this book is about her journey of personal growth. Based on other reviews I read, I’m wondering if this book went over some people’s heads…and some reviewers on this book simply do not pass the vibe check. I thought that it might be more romance-focused going into it but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was much more about the MC’s growth as a human being. She learned that it’s maybe not so great to have a robot boyfriend programmed to be perfect, and she eventually learned to let go of being such a control freak. Character development was done very well, and the supporting characters were fleshed out and interesting, if not irritating (looking at you, Kelly’s mother!). I hope Sarah Archer decides to write another novel and doesn’t let all the negative reviews hold her back.
