Borrowed this from a huge Arrow (TV show) fan. Knew nothing about the Green Arrow character (I've only seen the Flash/Arrow crossover episodes) but it was interesting to read about Oliver Queen.

This storyline asks what if everything is taken away from billionaire Oliver? He loses almost everything and has to battle Count Vertigo who can mess with Arrow's equilibrium. There's a really neat substory about these ancient relics (an arrow, shield, spear, hammer, etc.) which almost makes me want to read more, but since I'm not very invested in the Arrow, and I prefer graphic novels that have a finite ending.

Interesting story but I don't love the artwork. It's hard to describe, but the characters are sketched very simply, with very few details which didn't catch my eye.

A bright spot in DC's "New 52"

I really like Jeff Lemire, and I really wanted to like Green Arrow more, but this volume changes so much of what had been established in the preceding volume. It makes use of some key components from the TV series Arrow so much that I felt like I was getting plot spoilers at times.

Lemire's writing was a step change from where the previous volumes were. Not sure the plot was actually any better, but it was executed better. Liked the introduction of Diggle at the end. Art was not the boilerplate New 52 style, but I did like it, especially this version of GA vs. previous volumes.

I will admit I enjoyed this volume of “Green Arrow” much better than the last, but that’s not saying much. The writing was very original or compelling & I didn’t care much for the artwork.

This is my last volume of Green Arrow as I’ve been getting caught up with all the graphic novels I bought back when I was buying comics. Am still embarrassed that I own the entire run of the individual comics to this series.

It is books like this that make me love reading comics.

I have read very little DC before this, and no Arrow. As such, I was pleased to discover that Lemire's run with the character makes for an excellent entry point with a story that stands largely on its own. Lemire and Sorrentino are one of my favorite pairs in comics and this volume is no exception.

Though not flawless in delivery, the creative team takes Arrow on a challenging journey that costs him almost everything he has. This is also episodic storytelling as I think it should be done--not simply moving from one adventure to the next, but layering and tying together each piece of the storyline to form a complex and engaging plot.

Writing, art, colors--everything comes together well in this volume, crafting a nuanced and emotional storyline that makes some basically familiar superhero plot elements feel fresh and exciting.

Once again, Lemire is successful. This actually looks a lot like Diggle's Green Arrow. Of course, Lemire's requisite themes of father-son inheritance and growing up are here in spades. As usual, Lemire has to give the reader very little while still succeeding in making us care about the characters. Some of this reminded me of the Brubaker/Fraction Immortal Fist what with the supernatural clan aspect. Great for fans of Lemire, the Bendis/Brubaker Daredevil - for the art style and the mostly realistic storyline, and Diggle's work, such as the Losers.

Finally! A good volume in this series (comparatively) I have debated whether or not to continue this iteration of GA after the last three trash volumes. This book isn’t perfect, but by comparison to the last three, it’s close.
The art by Sorrentino is a big plus. Both the linework and the panel style/layout is something I hope to see more of, and Lemire has created good lore and mystery in this series finally. I am excited to continue onwards.

Good stuff. I'm enjoying Jeff LeMire. I didn't like the early new 52 Green Arrow, but this volume piqued my interest.

Amazing. I had heard this was great, and kept meaning to get around to it. After reading the recent Green Arrow Rebirth #1 and Green Arrow #1 and loving both, I finally decided to start Lemire's run on Green Arrow. I wasn't disappointed. Which I really thought I would be because of how much I loved the new #1s, but this really was just a super fun read. Can't wait to plunge into the next two volumes.
