This series is just so much fun! These are exactly the kind of books I have been in to mood to read at the moment. It makes me want to live in a beach house in the Hampton's over the summer. I'm dying to see how the rest of this series is going to end! I absolutely love these books!

The second book in the series. It begins right after the last one left off. The fourth of July chaos was just the day before. Gemma feeling defeated and hurt. The feud is only beginning now.

I don't like Gemma. Quite frankly, she's an idiot. She constantly repeats her past mistakes and is either too self-centered to stop or too stupid to know how stupid and ridiculous she is. She's a horrible friend and uses people at every turn and then has THE nerve to always feel betrayed by other people and always question their loyalties. Now I did occasionally feel bad for her but everytime I did, she did something stupid to make me dislike her again. And everytime she thinks about stopping, she starts right back up again. This book was just full of petty revenge on Gemma's part. Hallie is ridiculous to have thought up a 4-year revenge plan, but the things she did for revenge were on a whole other level than what Gemma thought up. That's not as much of a compliment as just a realization of how petty and foolish and evil she is. That being said, Hallie is a rat and I actually thought that she was going to get accidentally killed in that fight scene at the end, and just the thought made me ecstatic. Gemma made a huge mistake but instead of dealing with it like people with brains, the two decided to go at it like cats and dug themselves even deeper than they already were. I think a couple of my brain cells were fried while reading this book.

I kinda like Gemma's POV, though. No matter what she did, the author wrote the character in a way where you feel invested in her and kinda sorta root for her. But on the other hand, you see her thoughts and realize even further how stupid and selfish Gemma is and you really want to slap her and just be like Bitch, you stupid. But the writing wasn't bad so kudos for that.

This book wasn't much better than Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend. It wasn't quite as predictable as the first, but still very much predictable. There was no character development and they all kept making the same mistakes. It was quite frustrating to read.

Ford's feelings for Gemma are obvious from when he is first introduced. I mean, he named his algorithm after her and she couldn't figure it out for weeks. Too obvious.

Gwenyth is shady from the beginning, so I'm pretty sure her actions were supposed to be a huge shock, but it wasn't at all surprising.

The fact that Hallie has been stalking Gemma and her friends for the past 4 years is just creepy and wrong. Learn to move on, honey.

You'd think that Hallie and Gemma would have decided their war wasn't worth it. They resorted to petty and even illegal actions to get the other in trouble. They should have learned their lesson the first time around and let it go.

The characters are just very frustrating and the plot was pretty boring, just Hallie and Gemma doing worse and worse things to each other. Seriously, grow up.

Starting right from the end of the first book in the series, Gemma is dealing with the discovery that Hallie knew who she was all along and that she might have ruined their friendship even more when she had pretended to be someone else to correct it. To make things even more complicated, Ford, her longtime crush, and Teddy, her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her with Hallie, are back in the Hamptons. Now instead of Hallie being the one behind all of the revenge plots, Gemma now wants revenge on Hallie for stealing her boyfriend and trying to make her life miserable. The two of them are constantly looking for ways to make the other one miserable, leading to distrust of good friends and hurting people they both care about.

The writing isn’t that great and the characters aren’t always very smart or likeable, but it’s still fun to read. It has a lot of "mean girls" elements and is unrealistic, but it’s enjoyable even when realizing how unrealistic it is. It again leaves a lot open for the ending of the story by having a major event happen that is supposed to be resolved in the next book, but it will leave readers wondering if Hallie and Gemma will ever solve their differences, especially now that they are going to be tied together in a way they hadn’t expected from before. It shows some of the reasons why getting revenge is a bad idea because lots of people are hurt as a result, but in this book the problem with seeking revenge isn’t explored thoroughly. While it has faults, the book is still fun to read and will leave readers both laughing and annoyed at the adventures of these characters.

I was very engaged with this continuation of the first book. There were so many moments where I was so concerned for the characters and was really hoping that they'd succeed. Really loved this book!
