Revenge, Ice Cream, and Other Things Best Served Cold by Katie Finn

3.0

I don't like Gemma. Quite frankly, she's an idiot. She constantly repeats her past mistakes and is either too self-centered to stop or too stupid to know how stupid and ridiculous she is. She's a horrible friend and uses people at every turn and then has THE nerve to always feel betrayed by other people and always question their loyalties. Now I did occasionally feel bad for her but everytime I did, she did something stupid to make me dislike her again. And everytime she thinks about stopping, she starts right back up again. This book was just full of petty revenge on Gemma's part. Hallie is ridiculous to have thought up a 4-year revenge plan, but the things she did for revenge were on a whole other level than what Gemma thought up. That's not as much of a compliment as just a realization of how petty and foolish and evil she is. That being said, Hallie is a rat and I actually thought that she was going to get accidentally killed in that fight scene at the end, and just the thought made me ecstatic. Gemma made a huge mistake but instead of dealing with it like people with brains, the two decided to go at it like cats and dug themselves even deeper than they already were. I think a couple of my brain cells were fried while reading this book.

I kinda like Gemma's POV, though. No matter what she did, the author wrote the character in a way where you feel invested in her and kinda sorta root for her. But on the other hand, you see her thoughts and realize even further how stupid and selfish Gemma is and you really want to slap her and just be like Bitch, you stupid. But the writing wasn't bad so kudos for that.
