Both the main characters kept insisting that Everyone around them was annoying and that they were the specialest boy/girl on earth when in fact I was surprised that Anyone would want to be around them in the first place. Such a shame because this one doesn't shy away from the monstrous but alas.

'"You're insufficiently dead," he said.
"I'm what?"
"Insufficiently dead. You lack rupture with your life. You have no exit narrative."'

I connected so hard to this quirky love story between a woman and a ghost. It is so raw and honest. A little maudlin (understandably, he's dead) but with a droll humor. It's surprisingly sensual and erotic. This book hit me as profound, and I loved every word.

'He sighed. "As you've probably figured out, I'm not really alive. In the traditional sense."'

2/5

I don't know what is it with me and reading ghost stories lately and they're totally happening unintentionally.
But one thing I do know for sure was that this book wasn't for me.

In one of the reviews for this book I saw someone say something along the lines of “it was so weird i’m still processing it” and that intrigued me enough to pick it up. Granted, this book seems to be quite a big hit or miss with people. But for me, it was hit. In all honesty, it was one of those books where I would read something one of the characters said and immediately feel it resonate with me—something which I know is pretty rare, but which I hope everyone gets the chance to experience. It was strikingly funny at points, kind of meta in a good way, and very hard-hitting. I implore future readers to look past what I feel is kinda of a meh cover and summary and try for being pleasantly surprised at the weird contents.

I found this to be slow paced and somewhat boring.

An instant favorite, I loved this book from the first page to the last. 100% recommended if you're looking for something different, something strange to fall in love with.
The ending crushed my soul, be prepared 👀
