"We generally expected little from other humans besides absurdity. As a result, we were rarely disappointed."
This was conceptually absurd (ghost man stuck in bureaucratic death limbo) and contextually clever (hello metaphors). I was far from disappointed.
If you're reading this for standard romance, you will likely be disappointed. You aren't getting a clean line HEA (I mean, come on, we're dealing with a dead dude). If you're seeking a perceptive, emotionally intelligent, character-driven, imaginative novel anchored by realistic experiences that explores the haunting nature of unhealthy relationships, the holes we try to fill, the seams we often seal unsuccessfully, possession, connection, unavailability, harmful sacrifices, the disconnect between dreams and reality, this novel will fill that void.
"This was an active absence, a force that wanted to know me just as I wanted to know it. No, not just to know me: to take something from me. It corroded and gnawed at reality. The longer I touched it, the further from reality I would move."

This started with Haruki Murakami and ended with David Lynch; it was a pretty unmistakable allegory for abuse that still managed to be readable and didn’t leave me feeling like I needed a shower. Solid, if not unforgettable.
What started out like a really neat idea sort of took a turn for the worst and got buried in bad sex scenes, a random character (with a name I cannot remember) toward the end, and just overall an extremely lackluster ending.
This was a quirky love story between Rachel who is alive and Thomas who is dead. I don’t believe in ghosts even after reading this story, but I did find it entertaining. I guess it’s a paranormal romance story if there is such a thing? Warning there is lots of sex mentioned, it is part of the story and it probably needs to be written that way if there is a love story to be explained. The good news is that only Thomas is the dead person, there are no other ghosts. The book is under 300 pages and makes for a quick read. I don’t “Regret” reading this story.
DNF at 25%. These characters are awful people, the content is graphically sexual for what seems like just shock value, and the plot isn't working for me. I snuck a look at some spoilery reviews and apparently there's major abuse ahead, too. No thank you! This book is short but life's too short for it.
Girl that book made no sense
It was extremely weird. I’m not sure if this was a good weird or a bad weird, but all I know is that this book was weird. I honestly cannot tell you if I liked this book I’ll have to get back to you in 5-7 business days
