I listed to the audiobook, which I would HIGHLY recommend. Im not even an audio book lady, but I loved the fact that it had a full cast and the way the characters were introduced was very easy to follow. I wanted to give this 5 stars, but felt it fell just a little short of that since it did drag a little in the middle.

Still a great, great listen.

When I first started this book I was drawn in right away. A what happened and who did it mystery. But halfway through I was over the long drawn-out pages. But toward the end I got back into it and was surprised at the twist.

The concept reminded me of the Hulu show, Only Murder’s in the Building, but the book had none of the style that is so charming in that show. The characters were not likable so I was unattached to them and, consequently, didn’t really care about their fates. The ending lacked conviction. And I loathe repetitive writing such as, in this case, the repetitive character descriptions. The narrator keeps, for instance, referring the the apparently appealing scent of male sweat. I did, however, find some things to like. I thought that shifting the perspective to different characters in the building with each chapter was a clever structure for the concept of a closed door mystery taking place in this apartment building. The mystery was intriguing enough for me to want to find the answer and keep reading. Solid 3 stars.

I am lucky enough to be traveling on a last minute trip to Paris to meet up with my husband who will be there for work. This book has been in my radar for awhile so I thought this was the perfect time to pick it up! Jess has run away from London to come stay with her brother Ben. Only when she arrives, he is nowhere to be found and something about his apartment building is just not right. The people there definitely know something about what happened to Ben, but they’re not talking, and Jess is determined to find out what happened to her brother. Lucy Foley is a slow burn author. She does not write fast paced thrillers with lots of twists. She build and builds the mystery and then reveals. Some of it I figured out early on, but overall I enjoyed the way the story unfolded.

Foley is a creative writer, but after her other book that was so well written, I had a hard time finding this one as  Impressive. But she's definitely creative
