Another powerfully impactful book about the relationship and bond between sisters, family, mother and daughters. About the depths we’d go to help the ones we love and ultimately at the end of the day it’s about love.

Definitely worth reading!

‼️TW: Drug abuse, NAS baby, loss of a loved one‼️This was such an emotional book for me. I never fully cried or sobbed, but I did get sick feelings in my stomach, knots in my throat and teary eyed a few times. The story is told from the older sister Lexies POV but also from her sister Annie’s journal entries.
.
.
This is a story about addiction, pregnancy, grief, secrets, harsh family dynamics, trauma, love, and healing. While it was very sad to read, it was also so incredibly interesting and hard to put down. I really think that this book was very much an educational experience for me in regards to a NAS baby. It was very much a raw and moving storyline. While it’s fiction I definitely think that it’s raw and honest. So it did feel a bit heavy, but I absolutely loved this book.

Such a gripping story of family secrets and the devastation that drug addiction brings to it. Sisters Lexi and Annie couldn’t be more different as they reconnect after Annie, a drug addict begs her sister Lexi, a doctor for help. She’s pregnant and a user. In Alabama, if a pregnant mother tests positive for drugs, her child can be taken away from her. We get a glimpse of the sister’s strict upbringing in a Religious sect, Annie’s addiction and the effect on her baby, and the strained relationship between the sisters. This story had me emotional by the end as secrets of Annie’s addiction unfolds through her journal writings.

Maybe more like a 4.5 just due to some relationships seeming too good to be true, but overall, eye opening in what people go through and the things they might never share.
