This book is great for encouraging kids not to bite each other. It has a nice rhyme to it and the pictures are fun!

My only beef is that the book says "it's gross to bite the skin you're in...". Some people suffer from anxieties that compulsively tell them to do things like bite their lip or chew their nails, so I don't love the message that this small part sends, that nervous habits or anxious compulsions are yucky.

For some reason I was expecting this to be a facetious story, a la [b:We Don't Eat Our Classmates|36341954|We Don't Eat Our Classmates|Ryan T. Higgins|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1509512923s/36341954.jpg|58021963], but it's actually a little more on the didactic side. It's written in verse and it's absolutely charming. A great reminder for any little humans with over-eager chompers. :)

Well who knew there was a niche for picture books that deal with kids who bite? You can’t get much cuter than Lisa Wheeler’s rhyming verse and Molly Idle’s soft yet colorful illustrations.

I feel like this book wants to be a song. And I want to sing it.

Super cute! The illustrations are reminiscent of old-school Disney cartoons, with that same charm. The rhymes are very fun, and some are laugh-out-loud funny. Kids will love this, and it will stand up to repeated readings. Its a cute one that parents would enjoy as well.

Manners books are a rare thing in this modern age--especially targeted to children. Rarer still is a book on etiquette that is filled with enough catchy refrains and bright illustrations that it could easily fit in with the best storytime titles. People Don't Bite People is a fantastic way to introduce children to the concepts of respect and keeping their teeth to themselves. Wheeler's breezy text is engaging and thoughtful while Idle's illustrations whimsically depict of the best (and worst) case scenarios for the dos and don'ts of biting. I only wish there were more kids etiquette books in this vein.

Humorous, rhyming prose. I imagine my littles would love this for read aloud in the library. Love that I spotted Molly Idle's illustration style even before seeing she illustrated it. :)
