I get annoyed when authors forget the details of their characters from one book to the next, especially when it's minor details like the character's age. It just screams laziness to me from both the author and the editor. Well maybe not lazinesss but perhaps they believe the reader would not pick up on the changes. I really wanted to enjoy this book as I binge read the first two books in this series. On the most part I did but I couldn't get over my annoyance that Tess's age changes in the third book. She was 28 during book 1 and 2 but now she's 27 even though this takes place 6 months after. Also, was it six months or five months because Kelk goes back and forth in different parts of the book.
Spoileranother detail that changed was Nick's letter. It had more words in this book than in book 2

Spoiler In addition to the age thing irking me, the whole bit where Tess says she won't drink and make a dumb transgression but always does, got old quick. I kept thinking "Tess, have you not learned from your mistake?!?" I didn't care for the additional characters in this story, especially CeCi. Was the whole point of her just to have another mean girl in Tess's life? Some of the things that occurred in this final book was just too over the top for me. I also figured out the Charlie/Paige hookup in book 2. That was a bit predictable after Paige goes to the pitch. I did like the "article" Nick wrote. That cheesy/cutesy moment was what I look forward to in romance books.

Tess had a plan, then she exchanged it for a dream, then she fell with a bump. She jumps at the chance to spend Christmas in NYC with her best friend Amy and enter a competition that could save her career. Only Charlie just started talking to her again and she's not so sure about turning him down anymore. And in New York she could run into Nick, the man who broke her heart...

I didn't read the blurb, so I had no idea this was a christmassy read. And I guess if I read it while I was cuddled up, drinking tea and enjoying the christmassy amosphere, I would have given more stars.

I still like the style and story. It's just that Tess became less and less likeable the more time I spent with her. She's just so unreasonable lots of times. And Kelk started this book the same way she did the last. With a scene that makes you want to know, just to jump back in time. And a great part of this was hilarious but some also seemed just so ridiculous that it seems, the author just wanted to make the journey harder.

I did like how everything turned out to be not as it seemed.
In the end it's cute. I still like those people and Nick is amazing! But I'm pretty underwhelmed.

3.5. Definitely preferred this one to the first 2 books in the series!

Although there was a kind of spoiler for I Heart London in it and I haven't read that one yet but oh well :P

Man, this got me in the Christmas spirit good and proper. I so loved being back in the life of Tess, and being in New York meant we got a good, healthy dose of Angela and Jenny (although sadly no Alex). I currently don't know if I should laugh, cry or go and hug everyone I know.

The plot is more than a little flawed. For all it's mentions of popular apps, it's premise is based on a horribly outdated form of communication. Moreover, Kelk has milked the idea of twenty-something women whisking away to another city to a point where it has become a little annoying. The story line of this book even closely resembles the preceding one in the series. However, the manner in which she writes and her quick and funny dialogue more than make up for it. I love the flawed characters that really come to life as if they were your friends and making you wish you would be so lucky to be part of their little group. All in all a steady Kelk book of guaranteed enjoyment, but I do wish for some more of- the-beaten-path books from her.

I've missed Tess and the gang. I hope this isn't the end.
