the redundancy was kinda a negative which many other ppl have noted, but i overall really enjoyed this and didn’t mind the repetition as much as i thought i might bc i managed to view each interview/speech within its own context. i really enjoyed seeing her views on obama change over the couple years this was put together. i liked the overall themes of how movements need to be transnational and globally informed, as well as her perspectives on state violence. also was impressed with interactions with trans studies stuff near the end!! overall would recommend but like, you don’t have to read the whole thing? maybe pick some of the chapters that interest you. i listened to this in one sitting but my favourites were (i think) the second or third interview chapter then the 8th and 9th speech chapters.

Angela Davis never disappoints, a fantastic novel that gets the intersection of how movements not only originate, but the points to the similarities across movements.

This book was recommended as a good place to start if you were coming from a place of complete ignorance and lack of understanding when it comes to Palestine, BLM, and other issues and movements, and it was a very good place to start.

My understanding and knowledge of Palestine were lacking, not because I didn't know of the situation happening there but because I hadn't done a deep dive into it as I had with other topics (like the colonization, ethnic cleansing, and erasure of Puerto Rican and Hawai'ian people and culture).

This collection of essays, interviews, and speeches was organized in a way that gives the reader an easy way to digest and gain knowledge, I would also say they are compiled in a way that helps them gain the desire to research more information on the topics.

I began listening to this audiobook (read by the author) after seeing her speak. This was the first book I have read by her, and I thought the collection of speeches and essays with a common thread was interesting. The author is clearly so intelligent and has a wealth of knowledge. The next time I read one of her books, however, I think I would like it to be more cohesive piece so I can really follow her train of thought and make sure I really understand all that she is discussing. I would recommend for anyone wanting to hear perspectives on the interconnectedness of struggles for freedom around the world.
