Alexandria/Alex is from an uber rich family and was allowed to go away for college to see the world leaving behind her family and some terrible friends and an old boyfriend that truly was never a boyfriend but a boy that wasnt really a good friend either as it seems and he has just put himself right in the midst of her family under her nose he is in deep.
She is seemingly saved from her own misadventure by the handsome, mesmerizing, kinky and mysterious Nox on her one week getaway or is she? They have rules which include an agreement on no past or future. However, rules are meant to be broken.
The sex scenes were too few but the ones that were there hot
Alex and Nox agree to one week of passion with no string or last names. The story will leave you wondering what will happen next and how Alex has put up with so much for so long. A great read !

devoured this book. Nothing like an Aleatha book. from the very first page, she hooked me.
I don't actually remember how I got this book. I think it may have been a free download through some email group I'm on. Because I didn't remember anything about it, I didn't have high expectations going in. Which is probably just as well - although I enjoyed the book there were a number of things that stood out as silly/annoying/inconsistent.
The book is told both in present day and in flashbacks which I actually think works quite well. There was one bit where we're in present day but Charli/Alex is reminiscing about the past to tell more of that story - I didn't like the change of format.
The characters were quite well done, if a bit clichéd. I wonder if the guy's nickname "Nox" comes from "obnoxious" because quite frankly he's kind of a dick. I can see where the author was going with him but I don't think it quite got there. However, since this is book 1 of a 5 book series, I'm hoping there will be more character development to come.
With books like these you expect to have to suspend reality quite a bit - and I'm ok with that - but when the characters do (or don't do) something that seems completely against what would make sense for them, it pisses me off.Alex is about to go to law school for crying out loud, but when she's told that there was some clause in her grandfather's will that means she loses her trust fund she just accepts it?!?!?! Doesn't even try to see the paperwork to make sure it's all legit and that there isn't any loophole. Nope, just goes to New York and decides to prostitute herself. Excellent.
The "courtship" (for want of a better word) was kind of rushed, the "present day" story line had the character being stupid - some of which could be explained by the history that is alluded to, but not all of it. The ex-boyfriend thing seemed to come from out of nowhere. And the main love interest was a bit of a creeper. Oh, and it can't really be read as a standalone book as there is no resolution.
That being said, it was an easy read and enjoyable as long as you completely ignore common sense. I didn't love it, but I liked it enough that I'm willing to give the next book a shot.

Spoiler
The teaser at the end of the book didn't give me much hope that I'll like him any better in the next book though. With books like these you expect to have to suspend reality quite a bit - and I'm ok with that - but when the characters do (or don't do) something that seems completely against what would make sense for them, it pisses me off.

Narrator Review: Love, love, love this narrator. I had a new favorite and I will actively look for more books Samantha Prescott has done.
Story Review:
You know when you read so many books where the heroine is getting grossly mistreated and you want to shake her so bad because she won't stand up for herself? That is not this book. Finally we get a heroine who pushed back! I wanted to cry out in victory the way Alex stood up to her step-father and mother. This really is just the beginning so I'm crossing my fingers that this is the path the author continues on and I'm excited to find out.
I probably should talk more about Alex and Nox, the couple, but we only got to see them together for a week and the rest of the book was about her life with her mom and step-father. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good week. I love what I got of them and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. The way this ended, I believe book 2 will be more focused on them. I am a tiny bit concerned with how this left off though. There is a hint that their dynamic has changed.

Okay, wow—this book is a ride. Betrayal is my first taste of Aleatha Romig’s work, and I’m hooked. It’s packed with mystery, steamy romance, and some serious family drama.
What I Loved:
- Charli/Alex’s Strength: Alex is such a fighter! She’s got all these expectations and pressures from her family, but she’s determined to live life on her own terms. I love how she reinvents herself as “Charli” to escape and just be for a while.
- Nox’s Mystery: Nox is the kind of guy you can’t stop thinking about. Confident, sexy, and full of secrets, he’s totally swoon-worthy but keeps you guessing. Their week together? Pure chemistry.
- The Storytelling: The back-and-forth timeline between her carefree week with Nox and the current mess with her family kept me turning the pages. It’s like two stories in one, and I couldn’t decide which I was more into!
- That Ending: Oh my gosh, the last chapter had me gasping. It’s not a huge cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you wanting more.
What Could Be Better:
The pacing is a bit slow in some parts, especially in the present-day storyline. I wanted a little more action earlier on, but the build-up pays off.
Favorite Line:
“I didn’t know his last name, where he lived, or what he did, but I knew that in the six days and five nights we’d been together, I’d lost my heart to him.”
If you love romance with a side of intrigue, strong heroines, and a dash of mystery, Betrayal is totally worth a read. I’m already diving into the next book because I NEED to know what happens with Alex and Nox!

My 4 star review of Betrayal
This is my first Aleatha book, and I absolutely loved it. It was a total surprise and I was thrown for a loop the last half of the book! I had some thoughts about what might happen, but she actually blew it out of the water- and especially the last line!
Alexandria Collins is on vacation and she she's taking a break before going to Columbia Law, her family is a rich and powerful family in Georgia, but that's just not who Alex is! She's grown into her own person. Alex wants to be impulsive but she's nothing like that, even though that is exactly how her best friend is. So Alex decides to go by Charli- her free spirited persona, for one week. She doesn't have a care in the world- and then she meets Nox.
Nox is definitely successful, super handsome- and has some twitchy palm tendencies like a certain CG. He only wants one week, and the have no last names, and no commitments- no rule breaking, after the week
Betrayal is the first book in the Infidelity series, of five- so this ends in a MAJOR cliffhanger with the promise of book two in January- only a few months, and not a year, like Aleatha normally spaces them out. I'm in love with this story, and I love the characters. I'm DYING for book two!! There are so many questions left unanswered, and I hope at least some are told in book two!

Holy Smoke & Mirrors!!
Cunning is the title of book 2, but it describes the antics of characters from Montague Manor to Manhattan. Wow!! Alex’s stepfather Alton is the definition, but her mother’s betrayal is merciless. The dog and pony show of Georgian elite would tip my scales of frustrations. I’m definitely team Alex in this book and hope the ending is her beginning of everlasting happiness. The next five books will certainly be filled with twists and turns only a gifted author and storyteller like Aleatha can deliver. Looking forward to many hours of reading into the wee hours and anticipating Alex’s future.
Definitely a recommended book!

Great narration. I should have known that the first book would be build up and end on a cliffhanger. I had to move right on to the next!!
