Betrayal by Aleatha Romig
4.0

Okay, wow—this book is a ride. Betrayal is my first taste of Aleatha Romig’s work, and I’m hooked. It’s packed with mystery, steamy romance, and some serious family drama.

What I Loved:
- Charli/Alex’s Strength: Alex is such a fighter! She’s got all these expectations and pressures from her family, but she’s determined to live life on her own terms. I love how she reinvents herself as “Charli” to escape and just be for a while.
- Nox’s Mystery: Nox is the kind of guy you can’t stop thinking about. Confident, sexy, and full of secrets, he’s totally swoon-worthy but keeps you guessing. Their week together? Pure chemistry.
- The Storytelling: The back-and-forth timeline between her carefree week with Nox and the current mess with her family kept me turning the pages. It’s like two stories in one, and I couldn’t decide which I was more into!
- That Ending: Oh my gosh, the last chapter had me gasping. It’s not a huge cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you wanting more.

What Could Be Better:
The pacing is a bit slow in some parts, especially in the present-day storyline. I wanted a little more action earlier on, but the build-up pays off.

Favorite Line:
“I didn’t know his last name, where he lived, or what he did, but I knew that in the six days and five nights we’d been together, I’d lost my heart to him.”

If you love romance with a side of intrigue, strong heroines, and a dash of mystery, Betrayal is totally worth a read. I’m already diving into the next book because I NEED to know what happens with Alex and Nox!
