This was good but a little disappointing considering how much I loved The Silver Chair. This just wasn’t as fun as the other books, I will say I prefer this to The Horse and His boy which I also gave 3 stars. The story just didn’t flow well in my opinion. There was a jump near the end to a different location which felt very confusing. I get that C.S Lewis was taking a personal writing idea but I didn’t like it, it felt rushed and out of place. The very end did wrap up better but I wish that the path to get to the plot resolution wasn’t as rushed and random. I still would recommend the series though! It really is an amazing series as a work of classic children's literature!

#thelastbattle by #cslewis was the last of the #narnia series and one of my favorites, specifically because of the power it has to make me feel while I read it. Also, the description of Talking dogs was a delight.
“Yes,” said Queen Lucy. “In our world too, a stable once had something inside it that was bigger than our whole world.”
“Eustace stood with his heart beating terribly, hoping and hoping that he would be brave.”

I can't finish this book without a hint of tears. Because as I get older, and understand more, Lewis' books are deeper, richer and far more prophetic than I ever realized. He is and will always be my hero.

—2022–
The degrading language of the dwarfs to the Calormenes does make me uncomfortable, but the final chapters of this book will always fill me with hope and yearning.

After all these years, I finally know why I tried and failed so many times as a child to read this book. The sad truth is, it's just not very good. Don't want to dwell on it, just want to move on. I'm glad I can officially say I've read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series now, but this one was a far cry from LWW or SC. As always, Lewis's imagery is dazzling.

This book kind of felt strange when I read it for the first time as a child. Ending scene felt too much artificial. I only later found out that this has some reference to Christianity.
