I was originally going to read this book first, then try Butterfly Weeds but I thought no, I will read them in order they came out. Well I hated Butterfly Weeds. I hated Julia in it, I didn't get the connection between the two, the way it was written was horrible, everything about it really I disliked. So since I already had this book I told myself I would try the first chapter and if it is written the same way and just as bad I just won't read it. This book was so much better! The writing style is way better, I kept double checking it was the same author because it was so different. You actually get a story, instead of just random snippets of time. Like when they first kiss - in Butterfly Weeds I was just confused as to where they were, what they were doing, when it was, etc. This one you get all the background and everything that happened leading up to it. Great. So I actually cared about the characters, could understand Will's love for her and what he was going through and felt so bad for him.I still didn't like Julia that much, but without having her side right there I liked her a lot more. I just cannot get over how much better this book was. It was great. And even though I knew what would happen eventually, I still was rooting for something sooner. Something to change so Will didn't have to be so sad for so long.

This was a sweet love story that follows childhood sweethearts throughout their relationship. I enjoyed the book. It wasn't my favorite, but it was sweet and in some ways romantic and in places funny. I enjoyed it, but probably not one I'll read again.

I love this book and ofourse the first book also but oh my gosh the ending just made me really really sad because I don't know the book was awesome don't get me wrong but it was like Titanic, its crazy like it gave me a sort of sad feeling that life does end and it passes you by and before you know it. Its almost over. Anyway, it really is a beautiful story and I cried a lot. AND i really love books that bring tears to my eyes!!! :)

Awesome Writing!

Oh good freaking lord. [a:Laura Miller|183852|Laura Miller|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1252031376p2/183852.jpg] has managed yet again to turn me into a crying fool with her epilogue alone!! How she writes such completely eloquent and beautiful endings is just beyond me.

I put this book off for a while simply because of the premise alone. I absolutely LOVED [b:Butterfly Weeds|15789177|Butterfly Weeds|Laura Miller|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344217267s/15789177.jpg|21440359], but I already knew the story, so I wasn't overly anxious to re-read it just from a different POV. However, what the readers don't know before beginning this book, is that while yes it occurs simultaneously to the first book, we are not just given the same stories flipped. Will's story tells us about events in their relationship that we didn't get in Butterfly Weeds. Some of the stories from that book are referenced, and some of the more impactful ones (i.e. the New Year's party) obviously were still included, but it was in many ways like reading a new story.

This duo of books is just so beyond well done. I am in such awe of the authors who really bring out such raw emotion and in such beautiful ways. This is an author with true talent, and I admire and thank her for what she has given to us as readers. Amazing.

I've often refrained from reading sequels which basically are the same story with a different POV since they tend to be, well, the exact same. This time I had to ignore that irk of mine. Because honestly, Will and Julia are so goddamn adorable. They are by far some of the most genuine character I've stumbled upon in the New Adult genre; they're just normal, small-town people finding their ways in the world while hoping their love can last through the rough patches.
She deserved those things I would never be able to give her. She deserved those things, but there was also a little part of me that believed that maybe, just maybe, what I couldn’t give her in riches, I could make up for in love.

Basically this is the same story as the first book, [b:Butterfly Weeds|15789177|Butterfly Weeds (Butterfly Weeds, #1)|Laura Miller|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344217267s/15789177.jpg|21440359]. Butterfly Weeds is the story from Julia's POV, and now we're allowed to see Will's side of the story. What the story is, is the story of Will and Julia, both from a small town, and how they fall in love in high school. Then life decides to get in the way when Julia wants to become a lawyer and goes away to college, leaving Will behind. Will – whom I can't seem to love enough – doesn't have grand plans for his life, but he knows he loves Julia. Eventually he becomes a firefighter and later a musician. But between worrying his job isn't good enough for high-achieving Julia and the jib always coming between their relationship, he still fights for her, never stops loving her. However, rough patches are tricky things; who knows when the road gets even again?

While this is the same story as Butterfly Weeds there are new moments too since Will and Julia spend much time apart, so I didn't mind revisiting the old moments. I'll admit being inside Will's head was part of it because I love his character. I know. I'm repeating myself here, but Will's just such a sweet guy. And he's not the only one. These characters are so wonderful and likable. Both main characters and secondary characters. In this we're better introduced to Will's best friend, Jeff, a character I wished to see more of in Butterfly Weeds.

I mentioned not minding revisiting old moments, and I didn't. I enjoyed the new moments. But what I missed was two things. First, there's the part where Will becomes a musician and becomes rather famous (never mentioned quite how big though). This part isn't a main focus of the story which it almost was in Butterfly Weeds. I would've preferred if the story focused more on this time of Will's life. Second, while there were new moments, none of them stood out in particular to give this book more than a 3-star rating; I liked it, but didn't love it. Loved the characters, but not enough to up the rating. Also, this book is not to be read as a standalone. Much of my liking was due to knowing some things from the first installment. Regardless of those minor issues I definitely enjoyed My Butterfly and might just reread this series again.
