This was my least favourite book of the series so far, simply because I wanted to punch Shane in the face. I really wanted to feel sorry for him being under glory'sglamour, but I really couldn't. A lot of what he was thinking and feeling was his true feelings, brought to the surface. Let's hope that he can sort his head out!

This book surprised me by making Shane a narrator and by digging deeper into his character. We learned the who, what, why, and how with Shane in this book. I do feel the plot itself was sloppy. Bishop was too easily taken care of. But I must state that I hated Glory, in an intense deep hate. It was a quick enjoyable read, like the others.

This was fine. Not great but not terrible. I did not like what was done to Shane in this book nor did I like how Claire reacted to things.
Bishop is back (escaped from prison) and is using an underground fight club to raise money so he can kill his daughter, and take over. Of course he is not the face of the project, that's Vassily and Gloriana. She is using mind control on humans to get them to do her bidding. And Vassily is giving them "protein" drinks, which are enhanced with vampire blood so they can be stronger and fight longer. Shane is obsessed with the fight club and while he realizes that he's being manipulated by Glory he doesn't care because he gets to fight. And, all of his jealousies and insecurities are coming out. Claire gets the Founder to let her talk to one of the prisoners to gry to help them with tracing the website for the fight club but she turns on them and escapes in the confusion. Claire, Eve, and Myrnin have to stop fight club on their own, before Oliver goes scorched earth. They save Shane. Kill Bishop. Then, the tech girl shows up at Myrnin's lab and tries to kill Claire so she could be with Shane, but that doesn't work out. Shane finds out that his dad is now the brain running the vampire boundaries. He and Claire make up. She turns down MIT. Oh, and Eve and Michael are engaged; she is elated, he is not.
Lots happened in this book, so it wasn't like it was filler. But it also wasn't great and lots of things irritated me.

There have been enough recurring themes/disasters/situations to begin annoying me. It’s sort of like that excellent TV show you loved but after say, season 5 it started going downhill because they ran out of new material.

Amelie is supposed to be this cold heart vamp queen, and yet when it comes to Really Big Decisions about Really Bad Villains… she just chills? I don’t love Oliver but sometimes I think he’s set up to do better. Though still hella bipolar.

Shane’s internal monologuing was the worst. What a whiney friggin baby man child. I didn’t think I still disliked him. Maybe because usually he’s just there, maybe because he really was doing better with his vamp views. But this shit is for the birds. I don’t dislike POV swaps at all, but this wasn’t that. The books are written in third person with the obvious focus on Claire and her story. Don’t throw in random POV though swaps.

Myrnin is still perfection. He’s an angel and I love him and would die for him.

This was an interesting development in the series. My biggest problem was Shane. The whole book I needed someone to knock some sense into him. He just kept being so infuriatingly ridiculous.

After my excitement of receiving this book in the mail died down from an extreme happy dance, I quickly started devouring the latest installment in the Morganville Vampire series. I wanted -- no needed-- more of the cast of characters and their constant struggle of vampires and humans coexisting together in one town.

In Bite Club, we get to see previous characters reappear, a new setting for the characters to immerse themselves in, and more obstacles for them to overcome. What I absolutely loved more than anything in this book is how the author took a chance and changed the POV through out the book. This series has been in Claire's POV the entire ride, and in Bite Club we get to peek into Shane's head as well. Not only is Shane sexy, sweet, funny and charming at times, but now we actually get to read about his feelings and past events that shaped him into the guy he is.

When Shane joins a new self defense class taught by a vampire, Claire starts to notice Shane changing. He is angry at everything, starting to pick fights with Michael, and even goes as far as hurting Claire emotionally. What he does to Claire was not only heartbreaking and had me mad, but it was torture now knowing if Claire was going to be able to pull him back from the dark place he was in mentally.

Moving on to my next favorite character of the series, we get to see a lot more of Myrnin in this book. I just love this crazy vampire! The scenes where he is driving Claire and Eve around town was one of my favorites parts of the book. Even though Myrnin is in typical better-than-humans form, I felt the author showed more of his compassion and fondness for Claire in this book.

Then as the ending approached and previous enemies were dealt with, Shane finds out the secret that Claire has been hiding from him about his Father. His reaction was perfect and fit with what has happened through out the entire book. Plus we even get a few surprises involving Eve and Michael that I have been waiting forever for!

Not only do I love this series and adore the wonderful author, but I must say that Bite Club is probably one of my favorites of the whole series! If you are a fan of the Morganville Vampire series, this is going to be one book you are going to want to read!
