Fast paced story of the master thief, ghostman, human chameleon.
I wont go into details of the story to avoid spoilers. What I can say is that story takes place in around 72 hours it is very fast paced with lots of action, twists and turns and violence.
Book is written in same way as [a:Richard Stark|13634|Richard Stark|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1287877064p2/13634.jpg]'s Parker series - some flashbacks giving details on the main character and his relations with other people in the story. If you seek deeply developed characters this might not be your cup of tea. Main element here are a heist, numerous twists and inner workings of the criminal groups.
Highly recommended to all thriller fans.

‘Jack’ the Ghostman is back and this time to save his mentor, Angela. The story follows a sapphire robbery that has not gone according to the plan. The plot follows the steps that Jack must take to help the person who he has always admired, and to find a solution to the situation that has occurred. The path will not be easy, but if there is one person who can do it, it’s the Ghostman. He must help while he can and the Vanish before he gets caught.

About: If you need Jack White, you’ll get to jump a lot of safety hoops and obstacles. For he can afford you not finding him. Because, if you couldn’t find him, you likely weren’t worth his time anyway. For Jack White is a Ghostman. He doesn’t exist, in a sense, for he can be anyone, anywhere, and then someone else the next minute. In this game his due to boredom, so the least you could do is have him an interesting job to offer…
What Jack definitely didn’t expect was to get a message from his mentor. The woman who once taught him this art of vanishing. She claims she’s in danger, and if she says so, it’s likely plenty serious. This time it all happens somewhere deep in Asia, where one of her crew members tripped over every local gang, it seems, and then disappeared together with the rest of the crew. The gangs smell blood and money, though, and they feel no scruples over tossing an outsider or two down the pier in trash bags. They’re able too, for the whole damn country belongs to them.
Mine: This is one of those rare books where very details is amazing and wanted. There’s plenty of books in my shelf where I could barely get through the details, mentally asking the author for how long can they be telling me all this unnecessary stuff. But not here, here everything was amazing. I learned a lot about counterfeit money, and payment of a crew member, a robber. And how that payment can shift depending on your experience, skill, and sometimes – role. Jack didn’t disappoint me either, he’s still just as interesting, even if at times I had my doubts.
I might be biased, for I always liked crime books told from point of view of criminals who lived to tell the tale. If you got books like that, recommend me some, I always hunt for new ones, for there aren’t many. This one gets 5 out of 5, for I loved it.

The first book in the series was the right book at the right time and just hit the spot. But this one was more not in right time. I have been struggling reading all day so it might have been that but this wasn't as engrossing as the first one. Though it was a decent time spent
While not as interesting as [b:Ghostman|18189462|Ghostman (Jack White, #1)|Roger Hobbs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1402389051s/18189462.jpg|19258159], the first book in the series, this was a solid crime thriller told from the point-of-view of master thief "Jack White," about his reuniting with an old flame that was also his mentor and partner-in-crime.
What? Good story except I found the end supremely unsatisfying.
Closer to 3.75. I think this was a little better than the first book but still seems to wrap up a little too quickly. Very enjoyable. though.
Great sequel that can stand alone if you missed Ghostman. Reminiscent of Lee Child, except that this Jack is all about technology as he goes about stealing, cheating and killing. I was totally caught up in the hustle, the frantic pace and the grimy city of Macau. Just the thing after the more challenging nonfiction I've been reading lately. Hobbs suggests that you listen to Nina Simone' "Sinnerman" as you start reading, and I agree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vDZsABHUbQ

Very fast pace, exciting, a rollercoaster that I enjoyed every second of. Only thing I didn't like was it was a bit gory at some points and I'm sensitive to that. But the descriptions are fantastic and 100% is a book and an author that I love.
Graphic: Violence
This book was likeable, easy to read and follow I got into it right away. It has a fairly simple plot line. It only has 2 main characters, basically 2 professional thieves who make their living pulling off heists. The two are Angela and Jack, a lady mastermind and her disciple who is 10 years her junior. Despite a longish bio, they aren't really further developed in the book. And they don't have a sexual relationship despite all the conditions being right for it.
The problem with the book is that there isn't enough meat in it. The main plot was just too simple. It's an ocean heist (mostly plausible) of sapphires that picked up an extra cargo and what happened when the protagonists tried to get rid of it. I kept waiting for the story to develop more and about halfway through the book I realized that the story was just going to end about there. Everything else seemed halfway done. I thought the readers would find out more about the two characters and the consequences of their actions but nope, the story had a real quick ending.
This is apparently a second book and perhaps if I had read the first book, I would have been more satisfied but right now I feel like I went for a full course dinner and the meal stopped at the entree. I liked the book and don't really like it enough to explore this author's other books. This book was OK.
I got this book as a free review copy.
