The main character's lack of any negative emotion towards her "friend" or the situation that introduces the characters frustrated me and I could not set that aside. I felt like the main character was introduced as a roll-over and take it kind of person, which may be pivotal to the plot, but I needed a character that interacted with what was happening to them.

Nothing To See Here is a heartwarming found family story. I loved reading this and getting to know all the central characters and their relationships. I especially loved Lillian as the narrator; she’s crass, funny, and so realistic. I can see myself in the way she talks, like when she said “I tried on a pair of satin pants and wanted to kill myself”, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

Even though this is a story about children who spontaneously burst into flames, it’s endearing and so believable. I want Roland and Bessie to receive all the love they deserve and I just wish the story was longer so that I could’ve read more about them growing up under Lillian’s care.
