Cute, lots of sex, but nothing really happened other than Jill arguing with her mother, Jill arguing with Liam, Jill and Liam having sex, Liam making waffles, and Jill whining about her condition with little to back it up until wham - her condition makes an appearance.

Did Jill and Liam really have much in common besides a shared love of sex? I question this. Or if their relationship would work in the long term.

I'd not heard of Catching Liam until I was contacted about joining in a tour for the second book in the series, luckily if we hadn't read the first one we could receive a copy for review. After a quick search to find out more information about this book I quickly filled the form in for Catching Liam. We are quickly introduced to Jillian and her flatmate, Jess, as they embark on a 'boy catching night' where they out out with the intention of bringing a boy home.

The next morning Jillian awakes to discover her Scotish 'boy' is still in her flat, and is naked, in the kitchen, making breakfast....did I mention he is naked :). We soon find out his name is Liam, and he has every intention of sticking around and getting to know Jillian a lot better. Unperturbed by his nakedness she quickly tells him to get dressed, and attempts to hustle him out of her flat, which fails miserably, but also gives us time to get to know Liam.

Jillian is the protagonist, with an overbearing mum who likes to take control of Jillian's life.  But Jillian is hiding something through most of the book and when the truth is revealed I was shocked, but quickly turned to adoration for Jillian, living her life with this condition, and understand she doesn't like to get close to people.  It also explains why her Mum is so overbearing, although I do think she goes just a bit too far on some occasions.
Liam is perfect for Jillian, he wants to be there for her before he knows what is wrong, when he finds out the truth he looks into it, researches it, and finds out all that he can even asking her friends for information to prove he wants to be there for Jillian, and that he wont run away.  Although their relationship starts off rocky, after all is revealed it begins to settle into a state of normalcy.
Jillian's friends are an excellent support system for her and without them I don't think she would have made it as far as she does.

Her final presentation was tremendously brave and emotional, to have the courage to get up and talk about what is wrong with her, even when she was thrown into it, takes guts, and is not something I would do even if it was to talk about my asthma which is much more common than Jillian's condition.

I really enjoyed reading Catching Liam, I'd not heard of this author before receiving my review copy and was surprised to find myself quickly falling into the story.  The characters are likeable and realistic, dealing with everyday struggles which makes the story even more easy to fall into, you can relate to these characters and see parts of your own life mirrored in theirs.  The author has away of making you emotionally invested in what happens to the characters, especially Jillian, and I found myself getting to the end of the book sooner than I realised.  I need to read the next book in this series when it's released to find out what happens with Jessica, Cassie and Roman.

First let me tell you that I loved this book! I loved all of it! The characters were great, the story was deep and emotional while also being funny and light-hearted. This book is one of those books that I know I will want to go back and re-read because it will be on my mind for quite awhile! This book had a little bit of everything that I look for in a great romance read and I cannot wait to read more from Sophia Bleu, especially the rest of the books in this series.

Jillian is a college student who doesn't do relationships. Her motto is catch and release. Her friends even have a designated night that they go out to their favorite local bar to "catch" a guy. But after her friends both start dating, Jillian is left as the single girl of the group. Her friends think its about time for her to find someone, but Jillian is not having any of it. One morning she wakes up to her latest catch Liam making her waffles. Though she tries her hardest, he will not be rushed out her door. She finally gets him to leave, only to discover him in one of her classes. Not only do they have to see each other in class, but they will be semester long partners. Liam isn't content with just one night in Jillian's bed and begins trying to break down the wall she has tried to put up. It isn't long before Liam and Jillian are spending time together outside of class and feelings start to develop beyond the attraction that they have always felt to each other. But Jillian has a secret that she is keeping and Liam is on a temporary school visa and will be returning to Scotland after the school year. As their feelings grow and things become more serious, they begin to wonder how things will work out with all the obstacles standing in their way.

I absolutely loved Liam. He was amazing. Sweet and caring, and willing to fight for Jillian. He really enjoyed taking care of Jillian anyway that he could from cooking her waffles to taking care of her when she was sick. He is absolutely one of those genuinely nice guys that you always root for to get the girl! Jillian was funny and complex. She starts off as someone who refuses to almost deal with her condition and that makes her seem a little cold and detached. But as her and Liam start seeing each other he helps her to really start to accept her life and move forward without thinking that she is broken. Liam was absolutely perfect for Jillian and he was so patient with her even without knowing why she was acting and doing the things that she was. Not only did Liam and Jillian have great sexual chemistry and generate a ton of steam, but they also had a great connection. Their relationship definitely wasn't the easiest and there were many times that either one of them could have given up. But their connection was so strong that they were really about to become a better couple and have a deeper relationship than most could ever hope for.

Overall this book was one of my favorite reads in quite awhile. It was very emotional and unique in that it was unlike anything else I have read. We go through most of the book not knowing exactly what is going on with Jillian. There are clues to what she is dealing with, but until the last half of the book it isn't spelled out. I think that because of what she was dealing with and seeing how much she feared it and tried to protect herself, the reader really was able to connect with her more. Liam and Jillian were so realistic to me. At times they would have my heart breaking for them and at other points they would put the biggest smile on my face. It was impossible not to fall in love with them. I could have read so much more about them after this book ended because I just wasn't ready for their story to be finished. I am really hoping that we get to see more of them in the future! I really want to see how they move forward in their relationship after the next semester is over. But I am also very excited to read Teaching Roman which is the story of Jess (Jillian's friend) and Roman who is Liam and Jillian's professor in Catching Liam. I think that fans of romance who are looking for a story that has depth and emotions as well as steamy scenes and likable characters will love this story. For me, this is absolutely a must read.

Don't you just love when you sit down to read a book...and then before you know it you have finished the whole book in one sitting and didn't even get up once? I know I sure do! That's exactly what happened to me with Catching Liam! I sat down to read just a little bit...then before I knew it I had completely devoured the whole book and totally loved it.

Okay so lets just jump right into my favorite part of Catching Liam..and that was easily, well Liam! He was so insanely swoon worthy, now I know what you're thinking "Well ya...but EVERY guy in NA is swoon worthy! What's so special about Liam?" Welllll let me tell you! First Liam is a flat out gentleman! Which may I mention is seen in NA, BUT most of the time NA steers more towards that 'player' type guys that are 'bad' boys that need help. Not in Liam's case! He is a complete gentleman, knows proper manners, and treats woman with respect (can I get a hallelujah?!). Did I mention he is from Scotland? Yeahh so he has a nice accent, that I think all you woman/men will love. OH and did I mention that he makes waffles and cooks for Jillian? Oh oh, and don't forget how he calls Jillian hen (such a cute name, apparently it's the equivalent to calling someone baby in Scotland). Also he is quite funny too. The list just goes on and on! Just trust me on this one...anyone that loves romance is going to love Liam!

Moving on from Liam I also really enjoyed Jillian, I felt the reason she was sleeping around and didn't want to commit was very justifiable. When I was first reading Catching Liam I thought maybe Jillian had a bad ex boyfriend that beat her or was super controlling or something and that was why she slept around and didn't want to commit (that's what USUALLY is the case in these types of situations in books), but it was something completely different, and I have to say I am quite curious as to where the author got the idea to have it play out that way. Besides the point I really loved Jillian and really felt for her, I hated what she was going through, and at the end of the novel I really felt myself caring for Jillian as a character. While I did like Liam (alot) Jillian is the character that really made you feel something.

Onto the writing, and man oh man, does Sophia know how to write. This book (like I stated in the beginning) I read in one sitting...seriously guys I didn't even realize I had read the whole book. I devoured Catching Liam. This book had great dialogue between the characters that flowed nicely and was realistic at that, while also having amazing inner dialogue. The overall book just flowed so perfectly. I know I talk about flow alot in my reviews, but seriously having good flow in a book is so important to me while reading, if a book is patchy, confusing, jumping all over the place or just plain messy, I for one def won't be able to read it in one sitting, and for two I probably won't even enjoy the book. Catching Liam though I easily flew through, and never even paused. Sophia's writing was amazing, and I am officially a fan for life after reading Catching Liam. I will most likely be purchasing and reading everything she writes in the future. This is an author any NA fan, or contemporary romance fan should check out.

Overall, if you are someone who loves the NA contemporary romance genre, then this is a novel you cannot miss out on. I highly recommend it and hope anyone that reads this will fall in love with it as much as I have!

I loved this book. It’s impossible not to adore Liam with his sexy Scottish accent, unwavering love, and inside knowledge about why men where kilts. And Jillian’s strict dedication to the boy-catching rules is both understandable and merited. The conflict is believable and entertaining. Many of the New Adult novels I’ve read are so heavy that this book was refreshing with its sexy fun and adorable banter. That’s not to say that there isn’t substance and some emotional heart-tugging chapters.

And did I mention that this book is HOT? Because it is. Hot and romantic. My favorite kind of read.

I was also ecstatic to learn that this book is part of a series. I will definitely read the next Good Girls Don’t book.

Jillian and her friends have a strict rule when it comes to boys: one night stands only. Unfortunately, her friends are breaking that rule and have all settled into steady relationships. That’s not okay with Jillian; she has a big reason for wanting to keep things casual. Too bad her latest one night stand doesn’t want to be casual with her.

Jillian was not a super-likable character. She was whiny and bitchy and very stand-offish. Of course, we learned there was a reason for this, though we’re not told what it is until later (it’s not difficult to guess). We get hints and clues as the story wears on, but I wish we’d known from the start. The hinting and dragging it out thing is overdone and unnecessary.

Jillian’s relationship with her mother was strained, to say the least. While I understand both of their positions, I felt Jillian was unnecessarily mean to her mother. Truly, her mother loved her, so I felt Jillian could have cut her some slack.

Liam was such a hottie! He was adorable, kind AND HE HAD A SCOTTISH ACCENT. What’s not to like? He was stubborn, but the good kind of stubborn. He was hell-bent on staying in Jillian’s life even when she was being absolutely horrible to him. (How much of that is realistic is another question…) I also liked Jillian’s 2 besties – she was so lucky to have them in her life. They were there for her in every way. They were interesting characters and I would have liked to read more about them.

The story dealt with heavy issues, and Jillian’s relationship-aversion was just one of them. This book showed both healthy relationships, and the not-so-healthy kind. Liam and Jillian had fabulous chemistry and I was rooting for them from the beginning. I liked the snark and sarcasm all the characters brought to the story. Liam had an especially entertaining quip about kilts. I laughed out loud.

The story moved at a brisk pace, and I zipped right through in no time. There were a few editing issues, but nothing that bothered me enough to stop reading.

The story wrapped up a bit too quickly for my liking. It was believable, just too fast. Like, the steps to the resolution should have gone at a slower pace. Do you know what I mean?

The sum up: A quick read that’s sexy, sad and funny.

Back in 2013 when this book first came out I was so close to signing up for the blog tour. I was still unsure about new adult though so I decided to pass on it then. Now that I’m more into new adult books I decided to go back and give this one a shot and I am so glad I did. Catching Liam is a supremely cute new adult contemporary novel.

The start of the book totally hooked me. Liam and Jillian have this amazing sense of chemistry and it’s apparent from the very first page. They are so cute together! Jillian is not looking for a relationship with anyone and Liam isn’t looking for a relationship with anyone but Jillian. It makes for some fun times. The banter between the two of them was just so perfect. However, they don’t just have chemistry. They have a genuine friendship too. It’s sometimes a little odd since they slept together before becoming friends but it works for them.

Liam is totally swoon worthy. He’s Scottish and totally sexy. He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s kind, pretty much he’s just perfect. I honestly don’t know that I can think of anything that was bad about him. Jillian, on the other hand, had some flaws. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked her but she definitely had some issues. It’s hard to go into detail about her issues without spoiling part of the book though so I’m not sure how to describe them. Let’s just say she had some serious trust issues.

The story is super cute but there is a little more going on than I originally expected. Jillian’s trust issues center around something big that has to do with her life. It affects her as well as her family and it plays a big part in the problems with all of her relationships. I enjoyed seeing her work through these problems both with her roommates, Liam, and with her parents.

Oh and I have to mention that there are some serious sexytimes in Catching Liam. Holy crap, you guys. Some of the hottest scenes I’ve read.

Overall, Catching Liam is a great start to the Good Girls Don’t series and I can’t wait to read about Jillian’s roommates. I’m also hoping for some serious cameos from Jillian and Liam.

I don't know why, but I'm getting so sick of the typical plots in these books!! Just another girl meets boy boy has insta-love girl is scared to get involved with him, blah blah blah. I actually stopped reading around here because I could basically predict the entire book without turning another page. The only thing slightly intriguing was Jillian's mystery disease, but I wasn't interested enough to stick around find out what it was.
I'm actually really disappointed with this one... Liam even had an accent!!!! And I still didn't like it!!! Ugh

Jillian is 21 and definitely not looking for a long-term relationship. She is a Junior in college and every week since freshman year has been going out with her girlfriends for “boy catching night”.

Unfortunately (in Jillian’s opinion) things have been changing, as both her close friends have moved into relationships and Jillian has refused to even consider anything more than a one night stand. The book opens chapter one with Jillian waking up to the smells of breakfast being made which she is firmly opposed to since she doesn't typically want the guys she hooks up with staying longer than necessary.

Enter Liam…he is definitely swoony and happens to say all the right things. On top of that, he is Scottish and if you don’t know this about me, I appreciate a great guy character who knows how to woo a woman and just happens to have an accent.

Example 1: “Making a beautiful woman breakfast after a night of debauchery is the definition of polite.”

Example 2: “You look unbelievably sexy. I’m afraid we won’t be getting any sleep tonight.”

 photo photo-104.gif

There are more lines – and in skimming my notes it appears most of the ones I noted revolved around his willingness to make Jillian breakfast….anytime.

Although Liam knows he will be going back to Scotland after the school year, he knows he wants more than a one night stand with Jillian. Unfortunately, he has his work cut out for him and he has to work hard to get anywhere with her. He is definitely willing to put up with her antics and figure out what he needs to do to win her over and eventually he does. As with anyone though, he has his limits on what he will put up with and because of the secret that Jillian is keeping from him, he is a bit behind the curve when it comes to her. Lucky for Jillian he is someone who doesn't give up easily and is very determined to give their relationship everything he has. If not for that, they wouldn't have made it past the one night stand.

From the beginning it is clear that Jillian is hiding something. She takes medications and has brief episodes that are unexplained to the reader until a fairly significant episode hits her. Because of her illness, she makes some choices that I wouldn't necessarily agree with - mostly around her relationships – both with Liam and her mother. She continuously wants to feel useful because she is worried there will be a point in her life where she won’t be able to be.

I found myself a bit frustrated with Jillian’s character – I get it, she is losing control of certain aspects of her life. It seemed to me that she was a bit over the top - perhaps it is because I’m not in college (and haven’t been for a while) but as loose as she appears to be, I didn't understand how she could get any fulfillment – outside of the moment – from it and it actually made her seem less in control since, we never got to hear from her how it made her feel and what she really got out of it.

 photo anigif_enhanced-buzz-28114-1360290441-1_zps5893545a.gif

Jillian’s relationship with her mother is a huge point of the story. It is clear there are issues between them – her mother (Tara) would prefer it if she moved back to California so she could keep closer tabs on Jillian. At least that is what Jillian thinks…come to find out it isn't really that she wants to control Jillian it is that she is worried about her and despite what Jillian thinks, really does love her. It was great to see the relationship between these two characters evolve over the span of the story. At first I did think Tara was just trying to control every aspect of Jillian’s life but eventually (when the characters actually talked about things) it was clear the concern was because Tara loved her and wanted what was best for Jillian.

It is clear that Jillian relies on her friendship with Jess and Cassie to help her get through college. They are very close and although their relationships with their boyfriends have caused their relationships to change, they are still very close. It was a completely relatable situation because we've all been in those situations that when a close girlfriend starts dating a guy, they sometimes disappear for a while and that is what Jillian seems to be working through. Jess has school and Brett while Cassie is very much invested in Trevor. Although their relationships were briefly mentioned, we don’t get to see too much of them. I am curious to learn more as I feel like there is more to each of these stories that we didn't get to dig into in this book.

Overall I enjoyed this book. There were some minor editing issues but nothing that took away from the overall tone and feel of the book. I found that it was a quick read and Sophia Bleu definitely knows how to write the steamy scenes. On top of that, Jillian’s story (there is definitely some angst here) kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. I always appreciate a good story, a swoony male lead and a headstrong, opinionated female lead so in the end I can clearly say that this book kept me engaged and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series has in store. Hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of Liam as he was definitely one of the reasons I think I enjoyed it so much.

Love Liam!

Jillian and Liam are an incredible couple!! I loved the story line and the subject matter. I do wish we knew what happened later! Another great story!
