It took me a little while to get into this book. At first some of the descriptions seemed a bit overdone. Eventually the story and characters drew me in. I enjoyed this story and will likely read more by this author.

Content: a couple swear words, innuendo, fade to black sex

I decided to read this book an a whim because I found it listed among the free books in the Nook library and I'm so glad that I did! I loved all the characters and sure, sometimes Rosabel and Graham drove me absolutely crazy by being so stubborn and basically stumbling around with their eyes shut when it came to each other. But that being said the author wrote each of them so well that I really felt a connection to them and loved them even through their being so ridiculous.
Occasionally I was so completely fed up with either Graham's cowardliness or Rosabel's timorousness that I just wanted to smack them. But I still enjoyed every page, following their misadventures.
Everything came full circle between Rosabel, Graham, the memory of Leonora, Georgiana, her father. No question was left unanswered, which is part of the reason this book was so enjoyable.
I felt invested in each of the characters, even the less frequent characters of Ellie and Edmond. Plus Georgiana was a dear, so sweet and I so much wanted her to have the family she deserved.
The only thing that bothered me throughout the book was the editing. There were several typos and random additional or misplaced words, even one instance of the correct word being followed by an additional word written in strikethrough text. I'm sure this has more to do with the fact that is was a free nook edition than with the book itself, but it interupted the flow of the text.
I'm looking forward to reading more of this series! I just downloaded the first box set of this series and am looking forward to learning more about Edmond in the next book.

This was super slow moving and I kind of hated the male love interest. I could not understand his issues, at least to the extreme that he let them get to him.
SpoilerReturning your daughter to her birth father after all those years and believing that she would have a better life?! Did he forget what time period he was living in?
Also, while I am a mom and I do like children, I always struggle with books like this where an adult relationship with a child is a main part of the story. Not my cup of tea.

Although a little too long and sometimes an unrealistic storyline, this book was a good read.

Story and characters were great and I found it quite enjoyable (hence the 4 stars). BUT... it would have benefited from better editing (punctuation issues, even a crossed out word that hadn't been removed). I was annoyed by the historical inaccuracies, starting with bringing children to an event (as if), kissing in public, and things like when he felt her skin while handing her out of the carriage - they both would have been wearing gloves, plus it's already been described as winter...
Looking past these issues (again, a better editor would have caught these), it was a very good read.

A sweet lovely story about slowly discovering love and recognizing it knows no bounds for the hero of the book. I wanted to give it a 4star rating, but when I saw a real historical figure being written to suit the story it lost a star. Keep to the fictional characters, but give the real people you include in the books the same character they had in real life.
