There was a lesson of a message in there somewhere, idk what it was but it was in there somewhere.

No, this is not a good town for psychedelic drugs. Reality itself is too twisted.

Maybe more 3.5? I actually really liked the writing, but I was a little bored at times. I am excited to watch the movie now and I’ll definitely pick up more of Thompsons books.

The other book (along with Atlas Shrugged) that had a huge influence on me when I was a teenager. Like Atlas Shrugged, it's not really a good book for teenagers. It *is* really funny, and his critiques of both Vegas and America are as relevant today as they were in the early 70s. Drugs are really important to the story and Thompson's treatment makes the whole nightmare seem like a sort of fun. Not recommended reading for impressionable youngsters (I say this from experience).

I can't see why this book is so popular. Best bit is the illustrations by Ralph Steadman.
Story starts at frantic pitch, stays there throughout, then stops.
