Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson
5.0

The other book (along with Atlas Shrugged) that had a huge influence on me when I was a teenager. Like Atlas Shrugged, it's not really a good book for teenagers. It *is* really funny, and his critiques of both Vegas and America are as relevant today as they were in the early 70s. Drugs are really important to the story and Thompson's treatment makes the whole nightmare seem like a sort of fun. Not recommended reading for impressionable youngsters (I say this from experience).
