Though I enjoyed parts of The Professional: Part 2, it didn't live up to my expectations. I had a lot of fun reading Part 1 - Sevastyan is possessive and dominant, with a sexy Russian accent to boot and Natalie, while a little annoying at times, was, for the most part, a heroine that I could root for.

While they continue to explore their sexual relationship in Part 2 (hot!), there was little emotional or personal development in the characters. Sevastyan was especially frustrating and ran from one extreme to the next. One minute he wanted nothing to do with Natalie and the next he couldn't live without her. And while I found his intensity slightly unsettling but still sexy in Part 1, it bordered on creepy in Part 2. I hated how he distanced himself emotionally from Natalie and thought that it really bordered on cruel. He asked her to commit to him completely, while he held himself back from her at every opportunity. I also hated how his dark past was hinted at all the time but never revealed. This has happened to me before in books and the actual reveal almost never lives up to the buildup.

Natalie got on my nerves as well and I found her to be really whiny and annoying. She and Sevastyan definitely had physical chemistry but not much else. Overall I just felt like the characters and relationship lacked depth and I wanted more than hot sex.

Though this installment left me feeling frustrated, I am not giving up on this book. Natalie and Sevastyan seemed to be making some headway in their relationship near the end of this segment and, well, there's still the smoking hot sex. This installment also has a bit of action in it which added some excitement.

The bad thing about serialized novels is that authors often like to end things on a cliffhanger, which Cole does here, to great effect. I am dying to know what happens in Part 3 and how things will resolve. Will Natalie and Sevastyan be able to work through their issues and have a relationship that's more than just sex? Who is after Natalie and can Sevastyan keep her safe? I guess I'm going to have to read Part 3 to find out!

Things are heating up in this second installment of Kresley Cole’s uber hot erotic romantic serial. When last we left Natalie and Sevastyan they were fighting their attraction tooth and nail. Sevastyan has decided enough is enough and makes plans to make Natalie his and his alone. But plans made in a war zone often are interrupted. When Natalie and Sevastyan finally do get together break out the ice cubes cause you are going to need them. Though short this gives you enough to hold on till the next installment.

Oh. My. God. This is pure torture. Reading this book in three parts is horrible… I WANT TO KNOW WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN!!! Thank you so much Kresley/Jean Anne for giving me an ARC of The Professional: Part 2 via NetGalley. I was so happy when I got the email last night, a great way to start the year!

The Professional: Part 2 starts, obviously, right after the end of Part 1. And what an end! I was sucked back into the book right away, I’ve read it in like, 2 hours, and it was amazing. You should read my review of Part 1 to really understand my feelings because not much has changed apart from the fact that I love Sevastyan even more. This guy is such a complex and dark character! He is so mysterious and hard but at the same time he can be very tender, it’s very contradictory.

Natalie or Natalya pissed me off. I need to tell you this because she really did. The first part of the book I wanted to punch her. Badly. She’s in a difficult and confusing situation, I understand that completely but the way she reacted was not cool. Sevastyan is not a good guy, I get that too but she acted like he was at fault for everything… Fortunately, in the second part of the book, she was great. She realized her mistakes and was great with my sexy Russian Enforcer.

In so little time so much happened. I loved that! The book is not very long, maybe 120 pages but Kresley is an amazing writer and without rushing anything she wrote a story full of surprises and action. I even cried. Yes, I do cry all the time but still. I did. I was not expecting so much actually. I mean, yes I was but it was still a surprise.

I knew I had a reason to not like creepy Filip, the cousin. Kovalev, Natalie’s father, is such a great character. Like I said in my review of Part 1, I was expecting him to be anything but what he truly is. He is so caring and fun and gentle. There aren’t a lot of secondary characters, the story is really focused on Natalie and Sevastyan and I like that as well.

In Part 2 they get even closer. They explore their relationship even more and due to certain events they have to stay close together. I loved that part of the book, Natalie is really starting to fall for him. It’s really unexpected for her, he is so not what she envisaged in a “boyfriend”. Firstly, he’s older than her, maybe by 10 years? I’m not sure. Secondly, well, he’s an assassin. Simple as that. He’s a fighter and a violent man but she knows that, no matter what, he would never hurt her. Thirdly, he’s VERY possessive and overbearing (in a sexy way). But she cannot help it, she sees something more in him, he rouses something new in her and she wants more. She wants to take care of him in some way and that is so sweet and beautiful.

Sevastyan is so much more than an alpha-male. It’s not even comparable. I just love him!!! The way he is with Natalie is so beautiful. He tries to be good with her, he doesn’t want to hurt her and…ugh…with his tattoos, scars and Russian accent…what can I say, I fell. I love when he speaks Russian to her and when he wants her to speak Russian to him, it’s so freaking sexy!

Their relationship is complicated. I can’t say much, that’s why I’m being evasive, because I really want you to enjoy it full force when you read it. But they both deserve a Happy Ending and I know and hope they will have one together.

The sex, guys. The sex scenes were incredible. Kresley is just too much. She needs to stop (this is a joke). Whether they had sex or were just fooling around it was freaking hot and intense. I can’t even begin to imagine what’s gonna happen in Part 3 with the way Part 2 ended…

The ending is even more frustrating than in Part 1, I didn’t want it to end like that AT ALL. Once again, it’s not a bad cliffhanger. It’s a good one, a very good one and I am so excited and impatient for the last part now! I want to know how Kresley is going to end this great and intense story!

A few Russian words/sentences that I loved and that made my girlie parts tingle (said by my Russian Enforcer, of course):
« Ya sptryu na to shto prenodlezhit mne. » → I’m looking at what’s mine.

« Moya. » → Mine.

« Ty Moya. » → You are mine.

Candace's Thoughts

The Professional: Part Two begins with with Sevastyan and Natalie alone and sheltered from a storm. The seduction sequence had me squirming in my seat. Sevastyan makes his claim on Natalie (trying to force her hand into marriage...rules that must be followed in the Russian mafia) and their erotic encounter leaves Natalie reeling. This man, who she wants to feel close to, has backed her into a corner and she isn't sure she wants to be there yet.

Sevastyan refuses to open up to the Natalie, who clearly has become his obsession. And Natalie is left confused and wondering if their relationship can ever be something more permanent when he refuses to answer any of her questions. An horrific tragedy occurs and Sevastyan and Natalie must flee to Paris where their already fragile relationship starts to unravel. Sevastyan starts to treat Natalie differently. He is more tender and not the lover that Natalie wants or needs. One of the best scenes of the book involves video cameras, Sevastyan watching as Natalie teases him. She pushes him to give in to his darker side and ends up playing a dangerous game that ruin their relationship.

When I turned the last page in Part 2, I basically said, "You have to be kidding!" What a great way to leave a reader hanging! The ending was so frustrating and I want to know what is behind the curtains and wall of glass. How Kresley is going to end this intense story? I guess I have to stay tuned for Part 3!

Elizabeth's Thoughts

I absolutely loved Part I. Sevastyan is the dangerous, forbidden bad boy and Natalie just can’t help herself but want more of him. At the end of the first part, we were left panting as Natalie and the Siberian were in a steam house soaking wet from a rainstorm. Part II picks up where they left off and the first 25% of the book is of Natalie and Sevastyan getting naughty in the sauna.

Natalie was dragging her feet a lot in this part. Sevastyan is ready to claim Natalie as his but now Natalie is having the second thoughts. There is A LOT of sex in this part and while it was very passionate, I wished there was more to the story.

After a huge showdown at Natalie’s father’s home, Sevastyan is once again tasked with Natalie’s protection. He takes her to Paris and makes love to her constantly but Natalie can tell that Sevastyan is holding back. The too-gentle routine is making Natalie unhappy and when she prompts Sevastyan to start getting a little rough, he puts a stop to it.

Sevastyan confesses that he has a “sickness” inside and wants to take her a whole bunch of nasty ways and Natalie is all for it. Sevastyan doesn’t think she’s up to it so he sets up an evening in Paris. After dinner he takes her to what appears to be an underground exhibitionist/BDSM-type voyeuristic place and as Natalie gets her first taste of the scene, the story stops.

I felt the whole book was about sex. While it was extremely hot sex, I would have liked to see more of Natalie and Sevastyan interacting without being naked and entwined. I think when all three parts of the stories are placed together, this wouldn’t be an issue.

I do love the characters and I’m looking forward to Part III, but I’m a little worried about Sevastyan’s predilections and what, if anything, from his past has drawn him into the BDSM lifestyle.
