Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. IYKYK, my reviews are ALWAYS honest.

Writing: legitimate | Plot: tons of potential | Ending: FINALLY LOL

SYNOPSIS

When Emily finds herself cast as the new lead on Love Match (fictionalized The Bachelorette), she doesn't expect to be working with Jake, the love of her life that quite literally left in the middle of the night and never returned.

MY OPINION

This one is honestly hard to rate because it is brimming with potential. First, the writing is GREAT. Definitely better than your average book. And the premise? JUICY. I've never seen an episode of The Bachelorette, but I'm a hoe for Love is Blind. The behind-the-scenes look at how reality dating TV shows are produced was really interesting. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it sounds like hell. All of that just to get a bad edit and be harassed by randos online? No thanks.

Where I struggled was the actual love story. This was the miscommunication trope on bath salts. And sure, all romcoms have a lil bit of miscommunication, but it's annoying AF when the only thing that makes them "enemies" is the fact they won't have an honest conversation about what happened 7 years ago. They aren't enemies because one of them is a developer trying to buy out her cupcake shop to turn it into overpriced condosโ€”they're enemies because he literally dipped out on her 7 years ago without saying boo and she won't simply ask WHY??

In fact, these two nitwits do EVERYTHING but sit down and have an honest convo about what happened. I was so lost because I couldn't understand their priorities. Ole dude climbs through her bedroom window and lures her into the bathroom for an incognito chat only to ask her why she dropped out of college after the first semester and ogle her left buttcheek (from the front? I don't understand the logistics of this). I mean at one point they naked bungee jump together (is that even allowed? my titties would come clean off my chest). But actually speak about that fateful night? Absolutely not. Risk your life jumping 3ft across to his balcony? No problemo!!!!

Anyways. I was also surprised how deep this went. There's some serious issues raised here so brace yourself. One of them kinda rubbed me the wrong way but I'm going on vacation tonight so I don't wanna get too worked up

Thank you NetGalley and Kay Marie for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

What an amazing, heartwarming and hilarious contemporary romance that takes place behind the scenes of a reality tv show that is similar to The Bachelorette with a twist of revenge. It is a second chance romance filled with angst, tension, humor, and chemistry. After reading the synopsis, I knew I had to read this book! I mean who doesn't love a story about the lead star of the show who is still in love with her ex-boyfriend and he happens to be the producer of the show!?! Bachelor Nation this story is for you!! I absolutely loved this book so much!! Literally, could not put it down and finished it in a day. I loved that it gave me all the feels!๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“

Emily Peters wakes up one morning to find her mother on national television begging America to find her a boyfriend! It just so happens that The Love Match, which is a tv reality dating show, is in dire need of a star. When the segment goes viral, America falls in love with Emily and she becomes the new lead. What Emily does not expect is for Jake, her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart, to be the new producer of the show. Now Jake gets to watch Emily date thirty male contestants! What better revenge, right?! The thing is that Jake has never been able to move on and still loves Emily.

I also loved Sam who is Emily's twin sister. Sam definitely brought the drama and had no problems telling you what needed to be said.๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ I enjoyed that this was told from the dual prospectives of Emily and Jake. This was so much more than a romance! It dealt with deep real life topics that I felt were handled in a proper way.

Overall, I highly recoomend this book and it deserves ALL the stars!! I am super excited for Cooper and Sam's story next.๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

This was well written and a cute story...but there was one thing that really bugged me throughout the entire book. I WISH the dual POV was written in first person.

Dual POV in third person just doesn't hit the same. Example:

Strangers, Jake think as he arrives on location the next day. I can do this. I don't know her.
We're strangers.

Maybe it's me, maybe I'm the problem.

But seriously, it was well done (please check trigger warnings), but the dual POV in third person leaves me rating this as a 3.75-4 star.

WOW. An amazing 4.5 star read. JUST WOW.
I think I have finally found the only book written in third person that I love. Im going to be honest, I don't love books written in third person. I find it hard to connect to the characters and tend to lose interest quickly. BUT THIS BOOK? THIS BOOK IS DIFFERENT. THIS BOOK IS GOOD. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. I was hooked in from the very beginning. I devoured this book, I simply could not put it down.

This book was a perfect mix of the bachelorette and second chance romances. It kept me hooked till the very end. I just had to know what happened between Em and Jake!!!!!! Let me just say, the reveals had be sobbing!! I can't even remember how many times this book made me sob, but in the best way possible, it was so good

The Love Rematch by Kay Marie is the first book of The Love Match Book series. Fans of forced proximity, second chance romance, reality television, and emotional scars will find themselves immersed in this Bachelor-inspired romantic comedy.

Meet Emily Peters. She leads a seemingly ordinary life in Hollywood. She works at her motherโ€™s flower shop during the day and nurtures her startup jewelry business at night. Romance isn't on her agenda, and she's content. One fateful morning, her mother's desperate plea for a boyfriend on national television thrusts Emily into the spotlight and now she's the new face of the hit reality dating show, The Love Match.

When Emily arrives on set she comes face-to-face with the man who shattered her heart seven years ago. And now he's now her producer. Her resolve hardens into revenge, while Jake is determined to secure a promotion. Dual POVs provide insight into both characters, making this journey all the more captivating.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kaitlyn Davis for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was super heart warming and perfect for lovers of reality TV dating shows.

The protagonist, Emily's, life takes a very unexpected turn when her mother's plea on national TV to find her daughter a boyfriend goes viral. In a matter of hours Emily goes from small business owner to the the star of a reality TV dating show. What she doesn't know is that her ex-boyfriend Jake, who broke her heart, is set to be the producer on the show. To Emily, this is perfect revenge as he has to watch her date 30 different men. But she still hasn't gotten the closure she needs to move on, and she doesn't know but Jake is still in love with her.

Emily's relatable and loving persona steal the spotlight of the book. Her journey unfolds as she navigates her way through fame, love and second chances.
The author has put great effort into the depth of the characters and they each have their own quirks and motivations making the story captivating and engaging from start to finish.

The dual POV are significant in captivating the reader. Unlike other dual POV books, the author uses this technique extremely well and offers deeper insights in both Emily and Jake's past, thoughts, feels and perspectives on the scenes that take place. This definitely enhanced the emotional connection between the reader and the character.

Even though it is a rom-com in it's own right, the book dives deeper and explores emotional struggles and heartbreaks. It's not all fluffy romance, it's real life. Kay Marie is very talented to be able to balance humour and light-hearted moments with some raw and gut wrenching truths.

From the get go the chemistry between Emily and Jake is palpable. From watching them interact for the first time in years and also interacting more intimately further into the story, we see vulnerability, growth and unresolved feelings tug at the readers heartstrings and egging them on to admit their feelings for one another.

This book is definitely suited for romance and reality TV fans. It was amazing!

It was a cute and fast read with a nice setting and fun characters. I also loved the tight relationship between Em and Sam.

I liked the book overall but the time lapses were too confusing โ€” like time jumps mid-chapter and I had a hard time following what happened when. Also, Iโ€™d love a better build-up for Jake and Emโ€™s story, both in the past and the present.

The story had so much potential in that sense to serve the pining of a good olโ€™ second chance romance but I couldnโ€™t feel it between them. The way they made up felt a bit rushed, too.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the e-ARC in exchange of an honest review.
