The first book I have ever read from Sepetys was “salt to the sea” and I immediately fall in love with the writing style, the character, the flow of the words. Today I had the pleasure of finishing “between shades of grey “ and it did not disappoint. From the writing, to the character development Sepetys always knows what she is doing. The story is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time, you can feel Lina’s emotions on your own skin. The desire of freedom, that little spark of hope that never fully dies in her. The book shows, in a way or another, just a small portion of what 1000, it not more, people had to go through during WW2. And how those events scarred them and the generations to come. The book itself brings awareness to something that should be spoken more about, not just the moral of the book per se, but also about the tragic situation that those people where put in. What they went trough, what they had to see, what they had to leave behind and what they have lost in between. Rita Sepetys never fails to amaze me.

This book has so many issues. Agatha and Penelope’s story line really add nothing to the mix, there are just kinda there. The whole goat situation was extremely boring, at least for me, and I still don’t understand what the goats mean. Penelope and Shepard storyline at the beginning was extremely boring and slow, it got better towards the end, but still. I think we can all agree that we came back for Simon and Baz relationship, to see how their relationship would plan out. I would had much more preferred a short novella about them than this book. (Like the whole “the new chosen one” was a bit irrelevant and we really didn’t need it. Just like Book 2) I’m happy that Simon signally found out about his family, and how his relationship with Baz is developing. However overall, I only finished the book for them, because the plot was not it.

Although the book had a slow start, as it progressed I found myself attached to the story, craving to know more about Addie’s life and what happen to her. The end made me cry, and the only thing I feel to add is that, I remember you Addie Larue.
Well, the book stands to its hype. It’s a heartwarming story, and i will admit it made me share a tear at the end. It felt like I was saying goodbye to a friend. In whole, the book has its ups and downs, but I will recommend it for sure!
It’s always nice to go back to the Harry Potter world. Perhaps one of the most heartwarming book under Harry’s prospective. Reading what he is seeing with his eyes for the first time, the fact that he is a wizard and can’t believe what it’s going on. The whole excitement about it. There are some holes (like in the whole Harry Potter series) but that’s who must not be named fault.
