Surprisingly fun, bingeable and engrossing even though the two main characters are unlikeable and there is not a single woman in the main cast. Interesting world building - almost feels like Ilona Andrews' Hidden Legacy, but not as logical, coherent or detailed. I will definitely be reading book 2 because this book got me out of a reading slump but I hope that the characters and dialogue improve. And hopefully there will be one token female character in the main cast lmao

loved this volume. these poetry unbound collections are a great way to find interesting/moving/powerful poems and poets.

Has the feeling of a fever dream. I had Google open while reading this book as I found it impossible to follow otherwise. As someone else has said - immersive like a historical novel (the almost luxurious amount of detail!), written like a modern novel, but with the scope of a postcolonial project. A baffling reading experience for sure, but very interesting.

alternate title: if Instagram poetry was turned into a novel
informative medium-paced

Most of this is not new if you already know something about the topic, hence my lower rating. I did learn lots of cool insect facts though. Would like to see a documentary featuring all these strange and amazing ways insects have adapted to life.

Meh. Tears of the Wolf by Elisabeth Wheatley was better.
dark funny informative medium-paced

- crypto and NFTs are indeed as much of a scam as they appear to be
- and not only are they massively damaging to the environment, they also use slave labor (see Chinatown compound in Cambodia)
- victims of crypto and NFTs are often people who are lonely or desperate for a better life and many sink their life savings into it
- a typical crypto rich guy: bored with life, lonely, think they're smarter and better than everyone else
