I enjoyed the TV show, Blood Ties, and was disappointed when it got cancelled. So I was happy to find out it was based on a series of books. This first book is very similar to the first episode, so I knew what was likely to happen but still an enjoyable read. It's nice that the heroine doesn't have superpowers but instead a disability.

Huff's werewolves are quite adorable as they act like dogs rather than wolves. Possibly because she didn't know the differences in the behaviour but I quite liked it. I'm disappointed in the relationship between Vicki and Henry. There's none of that will they won't they tension that you'd expect in this genre. Still an easy. Read to pass the time.

A story set in the after-life which is really all about coming to terms with death, just from the other side. This is a young adult book, so is quite a quick read but I really enjoyed it.

The message here is, don't blindly believe the media. It's quite shocking at how much rubbish has been made up by the media around medicine in recent years. Whilst I'm not a big newspaper reader (I sometimes get them at the weekend to read the 'arts' sections), I'm definitely going to have to do more digging when I hear a health story that interests me.

I like Dr Ben's style of writing, there are a few laugh out loud moments, but beware that there is quite a lot of sections where you need your brain turned on. It's not really a read in one go type of book either, unless you're a real geek, I liked dipping in for a few chapters at a time.

I enjoyed this story about an Italian American family in New York with a family business of hand made shoes. Fantastic descriptions of delicious food and gorgeous shoes, there's even recipes at the back. The main romantic relationship also seemed very believable.

First of all I liked the concept but the book didn't grab me. The character of Gabriel has carried out unethical medical experiments in the past, unleashing a sterilising 'disease' onto the world. Yet this is supposedly a likeable charcter that feels no guilt nor is he an evil villain that we can hate.

The whole musical genius part seems to be a drawn out vehicle to get Gabriel noticed by the press. I found those parts boring and he could have just as easily got in the papers for something more mundane and believable.

I am hoping the copy I received was an uncorrected proof as was full of typos and would benefit from some editing of awkward sentence structure in places. I really struggled to finish this one.

For those expecting an action packed account of the conflict in Iraq, this isn't the book for you. Chris Ayres' reaction to dangerous situations, is exactly that of the average human being, not those of a soldier or heroic figure. The cover would have you believe it's laugh a minute, and whilst there are some rather funny parts, there are also very moving stories, such as his account of 9/11 which brought a tear to my eye.

I think the fact that you know he made it out alive to write the book, means you can easily laugh at some of his experiences which would otherwise be plain scary. I think one reviewer said the stories don't really fit together, but they do as they're all about fear, as you would expect from the title, even the pointless everyday fears and the fear of failure in his career.

A collection of very easy to read stories about Sookie. Didn't take long to read at all but was a quick refresher whilst I wait for the next book. I especially liked Dracula Night.

This felt a bit like two books as there were two unconnected plots going on. One centred around Anita's increasingly complicated sex life and one being a murder case more like the earlier books. Some of it does seem to be getting a bit silly, but if you can suspend reality for long enough to read the book, it's still enjoyable stuff for when you don't want to work your brain too hard.
