Trial books aren’t for me. Always feel too similar to reality TV.

A fascinating and unflinching look at how the world consumes fashion. I really liked how Barber kept tying everything back to colonialism. I thought I was doing pretty good, but this gave me a lot to think about in terms of how I can improve my own shopping habits. Barber isn’t guilting anyone, instead extending grace and focusing on moving forward. She’s also really funny! Highly recommend the audiobook as she reads it herself and is an absolute delight.

Ordinarily I’m not a dark romance or mafia romance fan, but I enjoyed this enough to have already started the sequel. Wells keeps the tension high throughout, which makes the book a really fast read, but I’m not sure I bought that the characters had changed or grown much by the end (especially Dario).

I skipped to this one because I love a doctor/healer MMC, but this really flipped the script on that trope and I was smitten. Elysande was such a great heroine (Sands does write amazing heroines) and the way she throws Rory for a loop by being just as competent as him is so satisfying. As usual for this series, the plot was great, more tense and less absurd than some of the other books.

After complaining about changling/changling books, I enjoyed this much more than recent ones. Mostly because it wasn’t agonising over a woman being more dominant than a man. It felt a bit long but did reignite my interest in the series and the side characters.

I love Murderbot. And I love ART. And all the humans. Basically I love everything about this series. The narration for the audiobook is also top notch. Now I’m just 👀 at everyone ahead of me in the hold list for the next one.

As soon as I read that Aulay was scarred in Dougall’s book I borrowed this one. I’m a sucker for a scarred hero. Aulay didn’t disappoint, he’s absolute perfection. The plots of these books are all fairly similar but I think that’s what makes them so funny. Overall a sweet and wild read.

This deals with some really heavy topics and Cole really puts the characters and the reader through the wringer. Overall I really loved these two and the way things work out in the end is really lovely. I can’t wait for Munro’s book now.
My one complaint is the writing of dialect. This is the first Lykae book I didn’t read via audiobook, and Robert Petkoff was doing heavy lifting on the accent. I don’t know anyone who says doona! Stop with the doonas!
