It was ok, but maybe a little repetitive in plot. I'm not in a hurry to read the rest of the series.

Though I didn't love the end, I loved the raw realism of the issues young women face with sexuality: double-standards, "boys will be boys," slut-shaming culture, and more. This was a very relevant addition to what has become a growing genre of young adult sexual assault fiction.

At first, this book struck me as cliche Holocaust, but then it became anything but. I could not. stop. reading. Lale's story! I will say that I felt the end narration was weak compared to the rest, but this is on my list of Holocaust must-reads!

Timely and uncomfortable... Ahmed addresses what could happen if we villainize race, religion, or color in the U.S. An important and compelling read.

3.5 stars. It was slow for me to get into. I nearly quit, but once Amari was on the slave ship, my interest was piqued. I enjoyed it thoroughly until the end, when the pace it had kept dropped quickly. I thought the end, while well written, felt anticlimactic.

I loved this book! Compelling story, often beautiful prose, wonderful characters!

Love Jodi Picoult books, and this early title did not disappoint. I have wanted to read Perfect Match for quite a while, and I enjoyed it a lot!

This reminded me of The Glass Castle, but I liked GC better. Tara Westover is insightful and self-aware about her unusual upbringing, and writes beautifully--sometimes heart-wrenchingly so--about it. Its contemporary POV reminded me that there are still many individuals in our country who have a very different way of seeing the world than I.
