This reminded me of The Glass Castle, but I liked GC better. Tara Westover is insightful and self-aware about her unusual upbringing, and writes beautifully--sometimes heart-wrenchingly so--about it. Its contemporary POV reminded me that there are still many individuals in our country who have a very different way of seeing the world than I.
