Literally pray for me. I have been unable to get through another book since Learn my Lesson so I had to make a special B&N trip for more Katee Robert books.
3.75⭐️ I love how many queer stories I can find in graphic novels.
This book was definitely a little lofty, but I think I picked it up at a good time. I enjoyed it for what it was!
Things I liked about this book: casual queerness (always surprising but always loved). I loved the setting and the mystery, the characters were all super charming.
I was able to predict (part of) the big twist at the end- but not all of the stuff with gods and goddesses and Percy Jackson level blood feuds. Nor her mom dying and needing to be resurrected. They set up the plot for the second book QUICK.
Also: I don’t know if it’s just because I’m a person who believes in witchcraft and crystals and magic of the earth, but a girl literally has plant magic and takes SO long to believe in witchcraft? Like not taking magical minded people seriously when she IS magic and just inherited an apothecary? Kinda wild

2.5⭐️ Briar grew on me as the story progressed but I am really not into this much discussion of pregnancy and children tbh
