I found my favorite book of 2014 on the first try. I can't wait to see how my other reads measure up to this book. It was perfect in every way. I laughed, teared up, and fist pumped in triumph for my favorite characters throughout the whole book. I recommend for everybody who wants to read a good book.
In this volume of the Aya series, things got a lot more colorful. The fact that the characters stories seem so real is a plus. I could actually see examples of real life situations in the characters' story lines and loved it. I'm happy Aya is getting to have a love interest in this one and that the characters are finally getting back to normal. My favorite part thought has to be Moussa. I'm glad he didn't completely waste his parents' money on trivial things. ok ce again, another well crafted story by Abouet and Oubrerie.
This installment of the Aya series was much better than the first three books. I liked that we get to see more of Innocent's storyline and that Aya finally gets a staring role in her own series that doesn't involve helping someone else. In fact, in this book Aya's friends are finally coming to her rescue for once. Overall, it was a quick read and was thoroughly enjoyable. I recommend it to all.
Favorite book from series! I seriously hope that this one isn't the end of the Aya series. The way intended seems like there should be more to the story. I'm happy everyone is happy...ok not EVERYONE....,,but I want more!
I gave this book 2.5 stars.
This wasn't exactly the book for me. I picked it up because I wanted to read it before I watched the movie adaptation. The characters in the book felt distant to me, it was as if the author didn't really want you to sympathize with either the narrator or the character of Hanna until it was too late. Therefore, I stayed pretty complacent with this story until about the second to last chapter when Hanna is about to be released from prison. It was only then that I began to take notice of where the story was going and wasn't exactly as shocked by the "twist" that shocked others. I honestly never came around to liking the narrator's character due to his constant habit of being unable to make up his mind and being unsure of past events.
It seemed like the author penned this novel without really thinking about how he was going to tell the story. The overall tempo of the story was slow and the writing style came across as bleak with major events being lost in the boring tone of the narrator swallow it up.
