Not what I expected. I thought the play was a romantic comedy, but it reads more like social commentary on difference between economic classes with Eliza Doolittle as a case study.
I didn't enjoy this play as much as the other Wilson's play I've read. I feltas if too many themes were packed inside of it and the ending wasn't as strong as other endings such as [b:Joe Turners Come Gone|783918|Joe Turner's Come and Gone|August Wilson|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388195648s/783918.jpg|60728] or [b:Ma Rainey's Black Bottom|516792|Ma Rainey's Black Bottom|August Wilson|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388205423s/516792.jpg|504726]. I enjoyed the character of Aunt Ester and the tidbits of history that came from the play about American Slavery. I would recommend this play to anyone who wants a quick read since the play is only 80 pages in total.
This is a fun graphic novel series. The books are thick, but are quick reads that can be read in one seating. The series gives a different view of Africa and show the countries light and playful side.
